"My baby girl" — Kourtney Kardashian gets emotional about her daughter's middle school graduation

Reality TV star Kourtney Kardashian is feeling all the emotions as her daughter graduates from middle school. On June 3, the mother of seven put up a photograph of herself crying on her Instagram stories. Alongside the image, Kardashian had written,

“me crying bc my baby girl is done with 6th grade”

Kardashian was referring to her daughter, Penelope, and commemorating her graduation from middle school. Kardashian also shared that the photograph was taken by her daughter.

Kardashian’s expression was evocative of the pride she felt for her daughter, and at the same time, it represented the bittersweet epiphany of a mother who realizes her child has grown up.

Penelope Disick, born in 2012, is Kourtney Kardashian’s eldest daughter from her previous marriage to American media personality Scott Disick.

Kardashian had two more children with Disick apart from Penelope. Kardashian’s eldest son and first child with Disick, Mason Dash Disick, was born in 2009. The former couple welcomed their third child, a son named Reign Aston Disick, in 2014.

Kardashian is also a stepmother to two sons and a daughter, who are children of her husband, Travis Barker, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Shanna Moakler. Kardashian has been candid about her experience of being a stepmother and opened up about her journey when she appeared on her sister Khloé Kardashian's podcast, Khloé in Wonderland. As per People Magazine, Kardashian referred to sharing parenting responsibilities with her husband during the podcast, and said,

“I love my role as stepmom because I don’t feel like it’s up to me to discipline. And so we’ve kind of allowed each other to, we’ll talk about it, and then, you know, he can handle the harder things.”

Kardashian further provided details about her relationship with her step-children during the podcast. She said,

“I definitely give advice, or try to be a good, I guess, role model or even just, how they say modelling is the best way to kind of teach your kids more than just saying certain things. So I feel just hopefully, being a positive influence or an example and we have lots of good conversations and we laugh and you know, I feel like it's in the best way I can be there to be supportive or really in any way that they want me to be for as much or as little as they want.”

Meanwhile, Kardashian and Baker welcomed their first child together in November 2023. They named their baby boy Rocky Thirteen Barker.

As per Hola!, Kardashian’s youngest baby boy, Rocky, was born with a rare condition which required emergency fetal surgery shortly after he is birth. According to the publication, Kardashian addressed her youngest child’s health condition during an episode of the reality TV show, The Kardashians. As per Hola!, she said,

“It is super rare — the condition that he had — but it is also super rare and lucky that we caught it”

As per the same report, during the show, Kardashian shared that in the wake of her baby’s medical challenges, she realised the influence of positive thinking on health, and acknowledged a positive mindset as helping aid her son’s recovery.

During her recent podcast interview with her sister, Khloé Kardashian, Kardashian spoke about parenting her youngest son, who is now 18 months old. While divulging her parenting style, Kourtney Kardashian described it as an "attachment style parenting.”
