“My heart aches for our extended family:” Chiefs heiress Gracie Hunt mourns 9-year-old family member killed in Camp Mystic during Texas floods

Gracie Hunt, the heiress of the NFL team Kansas City Chiefs, took to Instagram to express her grief for those who lost their loved ones in the July 4 flash flood that hit Central Texas and took the lives of more than 100 people, including Hunt's nine-year-old relative, Janie Hunt. Janie Hunt was one of the campers who lost their lives in the flooding at Camp Mystic, an annual Christian summer camp for girls.

26-year-old Gracie Hunt is the eldest daughter of Clark Hunt, the owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, an American football team based in Kansas City. According to People Magazine, Gracie, who is very active with the family's football endeavors, is reportedly also a beauty queen and internet personality.

As reported by US Weekly, on July 7, Hunt took to Instagram to share her condolences to those affected by the Texas flood. She began her post with "Praying for Texas." The heiress further added that,

"My heart aches for our extended family and friends who lost daughters—for every life lost and every family shattered by the floods in Texas. I don’t have easy answers, but I do know this: following Jesus doesn’t spare us from pain—but it means we never face it alone. 🤍"

In her post, Gracie Hunt also shared some Bible verses (2 Corinthians 4:16-18 and Psalm 23:4) for those affected by the flood:

According to US Weekly, FOX4 reported on July 6 that one of the victims of the tragic flooding at Camp Mystic was Janie Hunt. Janie Hunt was the great-granddaughter of late William Herbert Hunt, brother of the late Lamar Hunt, the founder of the Chiefs.

Tavia Hunt, Clark Hunt's wife, also previously shared the news of Janie Hunt's death on her Instagram. She shared via Instagram that,

"Our hearts are broken by the devastation from the floods in Wimberley and the tragic loss of so many lives — including a precious little Hunt cousin, along with several friends’ little girls."

According to People Magazine, Janie's family confirmed her death in a statement to the publication.

Gracie Hunt is the eldest amongst Clark Hunt and Tavia Hunt's three children. She was born in 1999, and her younger siblings are Knobel and Ava. Gracie, who graduated from Southern Methodist University with a bachelor’s degree in sports management and broadcast journalism, is reportedly pursuing a master's in sports management at the University of Kansas, People Magazine reported.

According to the publication, Gracie Hunt is also a beauty queen who has won multiple pageants, including the title of Miss Kansas USA in 2021. Her mother, Tavia, who was Miss Kansas USA in 1993, reportedly supported Gracie in her pageant journey. Gracie has also been vocal about her love for soccer. Though she had won a championship in high school, she reportedly had to give it up after suffering multiple concussions.
