Matthias Schweighöfer joins Ruby O. Fee in Brick, an upcoming German mystery thriller flick from Netflix. The official trailer has just dropped online, and it offers a peek into writer-director Philip Koch's vision. Per IMDb, the film is about,
"A couple whose apartment building is suddenly surrounded by a mysterious brick wall and who must work with their neighbors to find a way out."
The trailer offers a few more details about the couple and their neighbors, who suddenly find themselves locked inside their apartments. It all begins when Olivia decides to break her relationship with Tim. She is ready to leave the apartment with her belongings, but as she opens the door, she finds it blocked by a wall of black cuboids.
Tim and Olivia try their best to break whatever it is to walk out of their apartment, but no matter how hard they try, they can't open it or break it. So, tired of all these efforts, they decide to break one of their walls to get in touch with their neighbors: Ana and Gael. They don't have an idea what's happening either.
"Maybe it's some kind of twisted escape room," Ana says.
With more neighbors on board in their investigation, they realize that there is something bigger at stake than they imagined. Someone's surveilling them through cameras. So, they feel like there's a reason they all are stuck in this strange predicament. They try everything they can to decode why they are trapped to find a way out.
Eventually, they turn against each other for differences of opinion, and it all turns into a bigger mess. Is someone trying to divide them into these groups? We'll find the answers on July 10, 2025, when Brick will be released on Netflix across the globe.
