"No excuse for my behavior" — Martin Kove apologizes for biting costar Alicia Hannah-Kim

Martin Kove, 78, recalled the incident of biting his Cobra Kai co-star Alicia Hannah-Kim and apologized for his unexpected behavior at an autograph signing event on June 22, as Entertainment Weekly reported.

Admitting he was "being playful," he released a statement to TMZ, as People magazine cited, he conveyed,

"I deeply regret and apologize for my actions regarding the incident with Alicia, a genuinely kind and wonderful person who didn’t deserve to be put in this position."

Expressing his admiration and respect for Alicia, Martin further told,

"I've always respected her and considered her a highly professional and talented co-worker on Cobra Kai."

Accepting his fault and holding himself accountable for biting Hannah-Kim, he explained,

"I was being playful in the moment but went too far and there is absolutely no excuse for my behavior."

Martin Kove regretted biting Alicia Hannah-Kim

The Criminal Minds actor opened up about feeling sorry for his abrupt gesture of biting his co-actor and added in his statement,

"I regret my actions for which I take full responsibility for what I did."

Martin Kove apologized to Alicia Hannah-Kim and her husband, Sebastian Roché. Sharing his thoughts, he concluded his statement, saying,

"I'm committed to learning from this and it will never happen again."

Earlier, People magazine obtained a police report stating that the incident took place on Sunday. Kove reportedly attacked Hannah-Kim at Summer Con in Puyallup, Washington.

Later, the Grey's Anatomy actress explained the shocking moment and wrote a statement for the police. Alleging that she went to interact with other stars featured in Cobra Kai when Martin bit her, she wrote,

"I walked past Martin Kove, tapped him on the shoulder and said hello & he turned around grabbed my arm and BIT DOWN HARD almost drawing blood."

In her official statement, reviewed by Entertainment Weekly, she also explained,

"I yelped and drew back and then he grabbed my arm again to kiss it."

After the unprovoked harm, Alicia rushed to her handler and her husband to inform them of the incident.

Recalling everything that happened that day, she added in her handwritten statement,

"I had visible teeth marks and immediate bruising and pain."

According to the report, Alicia and Sebastian went to confront Martin about his attack. She noted,

"We approached Martin in the green room later (30 mins) and he was furious & outraged and visibly angry when I told him calmly not to bite me. He insisted he bit me for fun."

According to People magazine, an on-site law enforcement officer detailed Kove's attempt to bite Hannah-Kim. Speaking in support of the actress, the officer added that "a very noticeable bite mark" was visible

"on her arm that was already turning blue and bruising."

Though Alicia submitted a statement for the police, she did not press any charges against her co-star. However, she urged an official report if similar instances occur again. Later, Alicia and Sebastian signed affidavits.

Initially, Martin Kove did not agree with submitting a handwritten statement. Following the incident and the authorities' intervention, he was escorted.

The police report also stated that Martin "admitted to biting Alicia's arm" afterwards. It mentioned,

"He did it out of jest and he thought he was being funny, and they play fight all the time on the set of Cobra Kai, and he did not think it was a big deal."
