Journalist DJ Vlad shared his thoughts about Bad Bunny headlining the Super Bowl 2026 halftime show. On September 29, he shared an X post, writing that he found the news strange. He wrote that although he was happy that Bunny got the opportunity, he noted that none of the Puerto Rican singer’s songs were in English.
Vlad mentioned that he didn’t speak Spanish, and continued:
“Most of the audience at the Super Bowl won't speak Spanish. Only 14% of Americans speak Spanish, so most of the television audience won't know or understand his songs either.”
DJ Vlad added:
“I can see him doing a major event like FIFA or the World Cup, where there is a massive Spanish audience, but the Super Bowl doesn't make sense. It seems like the NFL is trying to expand its Latino audience at the expense of its existing fans.”
Vlad also asked the social media users to share their thoughts. Meanwhile, Bad Bunny expressed his excitement in a statement, where he said:
“What I'm feeling goes beyond myself. It's for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown. This is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”
Bad Bunny looks back on acting in Caught Stealing
In August 2025, Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, sat down with Willie Geist from NBC. Geist asked Benito what made acting different from performing in a stadium full of fans. The rapper said that performing in a stadium meant everyone’s eyes were on him, but on a movie set, it felt more private.
Even though there was a camera, sometimes he forgot it was there, and that helped him get into the character, the scene, and the story. The rapper also acted in Darren Aronofsky’s movie, Caught Stealing, released in 2025. During the interview, he thanked Darren for trusting him.
When asked how he felt when he first stepped into the role, Benito said:
“I could say that I was a little nerv to show what I can do and also I need to make this work for everyone. Like all people in this room are like huge actors. I have to do my best to be at their level.”
How did Bad Bunny get his stage name?
Bad Bunny said that since he was a child, he had a knack for acting. However, he said music had been influential not only within himself but also in his soul. He said he realized he wanted to pursue music when he was seven, adding:
“Since 12 I started to make beats, write songs, practicing every day. Every day of my life.”
Willie Geist mentioned that Bad Bunny’s name came from a bunny costume he wore as a child. Bad Bunny explained that there was a photo of him in that costume where he looked upset. He said the name fit him well because even if a bunny looked bad, it still looked good.
The singer added that he could be both good and bad, but what mattered most was enjoying what he did, remembering where his dream began, and always giving his best to what he loved.
