Robin Kaye, 'American Idol’ music exec and her husband found dead in Los Angeles home

A longtime member of the American Idol production team has died under tragic circumstances.

Robin Kaye, who worked as a music supervisor on the show for 15 seasons, was found dead in her Los Angeles home on Monday, July 14, alongside her husband, Thomas Deluca.

According to TMZ, Robin Kaye and her partner were discovered with apparent gunshot wounds after authorities conducted a welfare check. Police reportedly entered the home by breaking a window after noticing blood at the entrance.

The outlet also noted that officers had previously been called to the property just four days earlier after neighbors reported someone attempting to break in.

In a statement shared with Fox News Digital, a spokesperson from American Idol responded to the news of Robin Kaye’s death.

“We are devastated to hear of Robin and her dear husband, Tom’s, passing. Robin has been a cornerstone of the Idol family since 2009 and was truly loved and respected by all who came in contact with her.”

Social media users also shared their reactions to the tragedy and offered condolences to the victims.

“This is awful. So much violence in this world,” an internet user wrote.
“This is a tragic incident. It raises serious questions about safety and security measures, especially when high-profile individuals aren’t even safe in their own homes. Law enforcement and security agencies need to review and improve their policies and actions to prevent such tragedies in the future,” another tweeted.
“This is horrifying. What a tragedy,” one more said.
“This is awful. Random? or not? I imagine we will find out more details in coming days. Just so sad and senseless,” one commented.

Robin Kaye’s music career spanned decades, beginning in Nashville where she worked with Waylon Jennings and held a VP role in artist development and broadcast media at MTM Records. She later moved to Los Angeles and held positions in music licensing at MCA-Universal and PolyGram Records.

In 2000, Robin Kaye founded her own company, SyncroniCity, which handled music supervision for television.

Apart from her work as American Idol music executive, her credits also included Lip Sync Battle, Miss USA, Hollywood Game Night, Q’Viva, Dance Your Ass Off, and more.

Robin Kaye remained with American Idol through its original run and into its relaunch. The show, now in its 23rd season, features judges Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and Carrie Underwood, who replaced Katy Perry earlier this year.

No further updates have been released regarding the investigation into the couple’s deaths.
