As per a recent article by New York Post, Rocky IV star Dolph Lundgren is thriving after being cancer-free for around one year. Lundgren gave this happy announcement to People Magazine at the BAFTA TV Tea Party on Saturday in Beverly Hills. At the event, Lundgren told the publication:
“NED, they call it. No evidence of disease.”
He continued:
“It feels good. It was a tough fight to have for about five years. Actually, about three bad years, but now it’s better — so I’m back to normal, working out.”
He further told People Magazine that he is going easy and taking it slower after battling the disease for years now:
“I’ve calmed down a little bit . I don’t stay out as late. I don’t work out as hard, but I do hit the gym four, five times a week. I am just a little kinder to myself physically, I think.”
The father of two also talked about how his cancer diagnosis has given him a new outlook on life, explaining:
“Every day, I’m more grateful for everything I have and everything the universe has given me, and I try to really enjoy the people I love — my kids and my wife and my friends.”
He continued:
“It’s been a big eye-opener and it’s actually been a positive experience for me, I think. If I hadn’t had cancer, I may have done a crazy stunt and killed myself that way, because I was just a little bit too intense before.”
Although Lundgren received a kidney cancer diagnosis in 2015, he didn't make the news public until 2023. In November, he declared himself cancer-free.
Dolph Lundgren disclosed in May 2023 that he was fighting a "serious" case of cancer. After a kidney tumor was removed, he went into remission until 2020, when medical professionals found that Lundgren had more tumors, including one on his liver.
According to Lundgren, his doctor advised him to take a break from work and spend more time with his family, and he gave him two or three years to live. At the time, the actor said on the podcast:
“It wasn’t like I was bitter about it. It was just like, you know, feel sorry for my kids and my fiancée and people around you.”
