Sam Rockwell hilariously apologizes to Jenna Bush Hager for playing George W Bush

Sam Rockwell, 56, played former President George W. Bush in Vice. The 2018 film, directed by Adam McKay, was released on December 25. The popular movie featured a talented cast, including Amy Adams, Christian Bale, and Steve Carell.

In a recent appearance on the Today with Jenna & Friends show, Sam Rockwell and his girlfriend, Leslie Bibb, interacted with host Jenna Bush Hager, President George W. Bush's daughter.

In a candid conversation, the actor reflected on portraying the renowned former President on-screen and apologized for the same.

Rockwell joined Hager on this hilarious episode to detail his cameo appearance on The White Lotus and several of his other projects, according to EntertainmentNow.

Recalling how he played the character of George W Bush in Vice, Leslie suddenly remarked,

"So, like, when you played Jenna’s dad —"

Sam Rockwell quickly interrupted her before she finished her sentence and apologized to Jenna Bush Hager, saying,

"Yes! Oh my God, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry for that."

Hager replied to Rockwell's unexpected reaction, laughing and then adding to the conversation,

"No, you don’t need to apologize!"

In the popular show, pictures of Sam Rockwell and George W Bush were featured and compared, leading to more hilarious reactions. Leslie chimed in during the conversation, saying,

"Her dad has never been sexier. Look at you two!"

Later, Jenna also recalled having a similar discussion about her father and Sam with Leslie when the actress appeared on the show earlier.

Soon, the Lawn Dogs actor remarked on the humorous chit-chat, further continuing,

"Jenna, are we going to have to get a therapist?"

Jenna answered the actor's question, commenting,

"We do have the same physical therapist. We could go to her!"

Sam affirmed to Hager’s response and further added,

"We do!"

He apologized yet again and noted,

"And we met briefly, and that was awkward. I’m sorry. was probably asking you about your father."

Bibb joined the conversation, saying to her beau,

"Cookie, you’re fine!"

Out of curiosity, Jenna asked Sam,

"Did you ever just bring [the impression] out?"

As cited by Entertainment Weekly, she enquired,

"Like, if you'd go to a Tex-Mex restaurant, all of a sudden you'd be talking like George Bush?"

Sam Rockwell recounted an anecdote and elaborated,

"Well, I was on Jimmy Kimmel [Live], and I remember watching that interview with your dad and Jimmy Kimmel over and over again, and he says something like, 'Dónde está Guillermo?'"

He made an impression by mimicking George's tone. Jenna and Leslie erupted in laughter at the funny impersonation. Seeing the comical delivery, the host asked,

"Did he really say, 'Dónde está Guillermo?'"

The Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri actor stated,

"He did, he did. It's a great interview, but it's like, 19 minutes."

At the 2019 Academy Awards, Vice earned 8 nominations. The movie won an Oscar in the Best Makeup and Hairstyling category for Christian Bale's striking transformation into Dick Cheney.
