Jenna Bush Hager transforms her look with dramatic on-air haircut

Fans of American news personality, journalist, and author Jenna Bush Hager were shocked when the host of "Today with Jenna and Friends" revealed a new haircut on live television. The 43-year-old TV personality decided to enter summer with a chic, fresh look. Jenna Bush Hager opted for a blunt bob, a hairstyle that is currently one of the most popular trends of the season and is also being worn by "White Lotus" star Leslie Bibb.

Towards the end of the Monday, June 16, episode of Today, Jenna Bush Hager decided to take the plunge and join Leslie in rocking a bob haircut. To make the transformation happen, Leslie brought her hairstylist, Chris McMillan, to the studio to change Jenna’s look.

Leslie Bibb is no stranger to the Jenna & Friends show. During her last appearance, Jenna Bush Hager promised to try out Leslie’s bob hairstyle. In the June 16 episode of the show, Leslie returned to make sure the mother of three kept her promise. She brought her stylist, Chris, with her, who is also known for creating The Rachael hairstyle.

“And the man behind both of those looks— and so many more— is hairstylist to the stars, Chris McMillan. When I was here back in March, Jenna vowed to get on board with the bob, and today is the day!” Leslie said.

Following the announcement, a nervous Jenna Bush Hager sits on a styling chair as she gets ready for Chris to begin his magic, but not before noticing the audience outside shaking their heads.

“Okay, you're giving me a blunt haircut. Oh my gosh, they're telling me not to do it!” she exclaims.

However, Leslie reassures her and continues to praise her hairstyle.

“Bobs are like spring cleaning. There's sometimes some bad damage and bad layers. It sort of evens it up,” Leslie said. “You are such a bada--. You're so cool. You're so cool. I love this," she added.

At one point, Jenna reacts after seeing some of her clipped locks. “Whoa, that’s so short,” she says, but she is assured that the length will improve as the cut continues.

As the show concludes with Jenna Bush Hager’s hairstyle only halfway finished, she promises the live audience and viewers at home that she will debut her new look on her show’s episode airing Tuesday, June 17.

In another interview, celebrity stylist Chris describes the versatility of the hairstyle.

“You can slick it behind your ears, like do the tuck. You can wear it natural; you can wear it wavy.”

A few months prior, Chris also shared some BTS footage of Leslie Bibb’s bob cut after the hairstyle went viral. He describes it as iconic in an Instagram caption:

“Ummmm, can you say iconic?? @mslesliebibb and I are always trouble together. Now let’s see the ‘c*nty little bob’ become the look of the year with colour by @traceycunningham1. Doing this look for @mslesliebibb was so much fun. Don’t think I didn’t try to get some easter eggs from her, but with tight lips, she didn’t reveal a THING…surprise, surprise, Sam Rockwell.”
