What happened to Rebel Wilson during her on-set stunt that led to emergency plastic surgery?

The action movie Bride Hard is set to be released on June 20, 2025, and Rebel Wilson, the lead actress, has opened up about an accident on set that required immediate surgery. Wilson, in an interview with Komo News published on June 12, 2025, revealed that she was in a tussle with a stunt guy during a fight scene and ended up in a serious accident.

“I was in a tussle with the stunt guy, and a gun accidentally got whacked right across my face, hit me in the nose, and split my nose open, so there was a pool of blood.”

Rebel Wilson, who in Bride Hard plays the maid of honor and a secret agent, recounted in another interview with Access Hollywood how bloody the wound became:

“The last night of shooting, the last fight sequence, my nose gets busted open, it’s a pool of blood; if anyone has had a facial injury, they know there’s so much blood.”

The 55-year-old Australian actress added that she was treated by a plastic surgeon, and the scar is hardly noticeable now:

“I was freaking out, they take an ambulance and they have to call a plastic surgeon, because if they didn’t, I would have been permanently disfigured. So we got the plastic surgeon, they did all the stitches, and you can’t tell now, really, you can’t tell.”

Rebel Wilson had previously opened up about having an accident on the Bride Hard set in 2023 as she shared pictures of her bruises on Instagram. She also revealed to Komo News that the plastic surgeon worked on her nose whilst she was on an international flight from Savannah, Georgia, to another project she was directing in Australia:

“I had to get on a plane for another job. Yeah, so the plastic surgeon stitched me up on a flight to Australia. Thank God!”

The actress and comedian said she “still can’t watch that part of the scene” where her nose got broken.

Anna Camp, who plays Clea, the bride in the movie, described how Wilson’s co-stars and the crew members reacted to the accident:

”Everybody was so scared and so worried for her, but we couldn't even say goodbye because she had to get on a plane.”

Simon West, who directed the movie, revealed that Rebel Wilson did most of her own stunts and created her own fighting style.

The action-comedy movie Bride Hard stars Wilson alongside Anna Camp, Anna Chlumsky, and Da’Vine Joy.
