Pamela Anderson isn’t too worried about the internet buzz comparing her new show to Meghan Markle’s.
Appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on August 3, the Baywatch alum was asked to rate how similar Pamela’s Cooking with Love is to With Love, Meghan, a lifestyle series launched just one week after hers. The host asked:
"On a scale from one to 10, you did not see any similarities?"
Pamela Anderson replied:
“One. I didn’t really look, but I didn’t invent cooking shows.”
She also kept her response to the Duchess of Sussex simple:
“She’s just doing her thing.”
Pamela Anderson's Cooking With Love made its debut last February, featuring renowned chefs joining her on her $5 million property on Vancouver Island. Per the synopsis on Canada’s Flavor Network, they made plant-based meals together and hosted dinner parties styled by the actress.
Meanwhile, Meghan Markle’s Netflix series With Love, Meghan, which was filmed at her and husband Prince Harry’s $14.5 million mansion, aired in March after its supposed premiere in January was rescheduled due to the Los Angeles wildfires. The show featured star chefs Alice Waters and Roy Choi, as well as the Duchess of Sussex, preparing meals and gardening.
Not biting back: Pamela Anderson’s cooking show producer addresses Meghan Markle comparisons
Pamela Anderson’s executive producer Jesse Fawcett had a similar stance when the conversation first surfaced earlier this year. Back in March, he told the Daily Mail:
“We take pride in planting the first seeds – creating original, distinctive programming that audiences love. It’s a compliment to see our work with Ms. Anderson resonate so strongly.”
For the actress, she told the camera that she “loves to cook,” adding:
“I just have always wanted to take things to another level.”
This line, according to fans, was eerily similar to Markle’s statement when she said:
“I’ve always loved taking something pretty ordinary and elevating it.”
Other lifestyle veterans have weighed in. Martha Stewart gave her take in a recent Yahoo! Lifestyle interview:
“Meghan, I don't really know very well, and I hope she knows what she's talking about. Authenticity, to me, is everything, and to be authentic and knowledgeable about your subject matter is extremely important.”
Insiders, who stated that the Netflix founder Ted Sarandos is only after the results, further revealed their perspective about the matter:
“With Pam, what you see is what you get. Meghan’s problem has always been that she flip-flops. One day she’s an empowered feminist speaking to the United Nations, then, in her show, she’s a breathy homemaker content to be in the kitchen.”
Meanwhile, back in April, Pamela Anderson launched a lifestyle cookbook, which she affectionately called "a labor of love." On Instagram, she announced:
"What started out as a housewarming gift for my boys—a box of recipe cards, simply titled ‘I LOVE YOU’… grew into a project that encapsulates all our favorite things. A lifestyle cookbook; nothing fancy, just updated, plant-based family recipes; and entertaining with a humble kind of joy.
She went on:
"It celebrates the magic of scenic settings where nature always has a proud seat at the table."
