Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore was fired from the team due to his alleged inappropriate relationship with an employee. However, it was reported that he was arrested for domestic violence. According to Fox News, the football coach appeared red-eyed in photos obtained from his booking day. He has been held in Michigan’s Washtenaw County Jail.Moore has been accused of domestic violence against the employee with whom he had a relationship. He entered her house without permission and was later apprehended from that place. Court documents obtained by WXYZ-TV Detroit showed that the woman made a frantic phone call to her lawyer, saying that Moore was in her house. After entering the place, he took a butter knife and made several threats to the woman.Not only that, but the woman claimed that Sherrone Moore had been stalking her for months. As he made the threats against her during the sudden home invasion, he said:“You ruined my life. You ruined my life.”Court documents mention that Moore even tried to inflict fatal harm on himself. He pointed the knife towards him and said he would take his life while the woman would be a witness to it. He even told her:“I hate you. My blood is on your hand.”A $25,000-bond was set, and he was released. According to Fox News, the woman and Sherrone Moore had split a few days before the arrest. Even after that, he allegedly tried to contact her. As a result, she reached out to the university authorities. The next court appearance date for Moore is January 22, 2026.Domenico Grasso shares a statement in light of Sherrone Moore’s caseWhen Sherrone Moore was released from his duties as a football coach, the University released a statement. Signed by Warde Manuel, the statement read:“U-M head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately. Following a University investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior.”Following the recent events, the interim President of the institute, Domenico Grasso, shared a video statement. He said that last week was quite difficult. Grasso shared an update on the University’s stance on Sherrone Moore’s case. He said:“First and foremost, I want to underscore that the University of Michigan is committed to a campus culture of respect, integrity and excellence. That is why we took decisive action last week to terminate the employment of Coach Moore, and we are continuing the investigation of Coach Moore's actions to uncover any additional germane and material information, and to assess whether there may be related misconduct by others.”Domenico Grasso said that the University will take necessary steps to ensure that such an incident does not happen in the future. He also said that if the investigation leads to dirt on any other employee, then similar action like that of Sherrone Moore will be taken. Despite everything, he asked everyone to keep an “open mind” and not make unverifiable assumptions.
