Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore was reportedly fired on Wednesday afternoon, on the grounds of having an "inappropriate relationship with a staff member." In a statement, the news was confirmed by the school's athletic director, Warde Manual. He noted,
"U-M head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately."
He added that after a "university investigation", evidence was found against Moore. Manual continued,
"This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior."
The Detroit Free Press reported that Moore was reportedly taken into custody at the Washtenaw County Jail in Michigan. 10TV spoke to students at the Ohio State University following Moore's termination, with a few reportedly expressing relief. The outlet spoke to Freshman Isaac Clady, who was "pumped" to hear about Moore's firing. He told 10TV,
"I hated the guy, personally. thought that he was always kind of showing us up and thinking he’s always better than us.”
Some also expressed concerns about finding a new coach. The outlet spoke to sophomore Sapphy Chand, who reiterated the concerns. He said,
"It's a bad look for their coach and for the whole organization. It just brings them down even more. They have nothing going for them now. They're gonna have to find a new coach, and they're gonna lose to us again and again and again, over and over."

Sherrone Moore is currently being held at the Washtenaw County Jail, as part of an "alleged assault investigation", per The Athletic. ESPN noted that he spent two seasons and served as Michigan's "offensive coordinator."
In a conversation with 10TV, Ohio State University students responded to Sherrone Moore's termination. Students reportedly had mixed reactions, with a few feeling joyful, while others expressed concern about the football team's future. While Freshman Isaac Cady revealed he "hated" Moore, he also thought about how the termination would potentially impact new players. He told the outlet,
"It’s going to be a lot harder for them to get in there and have a new head coach. It’s hard for the whole program, so I think it's going to be different."
Pittsfield police reportedly released a statement following Moore's arrest, noting that the investigation is "ongoing." They noted,
"Given the nature of the allegations, the need to maintain the integrity of the investigation, and its current status at this time, we are prohibited from releasing additional details."
Sherrone Moore is currently undergoing investigation following claims about an "alleged assault" and an "inappropriate relationship" with a staff member. The Detroit Free Press noted that Biff Poggi had been appointed the interim coach immediately following Moore's firing.
