Taylor Swift recalls Travis Kelce’s hilarious Greta Gerwig mix-up on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’ during Eras tour talk

On October 8, Taylor Swift appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers to promote her new album, The Life Of A Showgirl. In addition to discussing Swift’s latest LP, the late-night host candidly interviewed the singer about other aspects of her life. While discussing her Eras Tour in the interview, Swift said that the most fun part of having her now-fiancé, Travis Kelce, on tour was that he would visit the tents and then share all the gossip with her afterward.

She recalled an incident when Kelce was excited to meet filmmaker Greta Gerwig during her tour, when she told him that his "favorite director" was in the tent. Taylor Swift added that Travis Kelce told her that he wanted to tell Gerwig a Barbie joke.

"So he was like, 'Oh my god, I really want to tell her how funny I thought Barbie was.' And I'm like, 'You absolutely should. She's really She's the sweetest, giggliest person to tell that you like their work. You're going to love her,'" Taylor Swift said.

The Actually Romantic singer further recalled that Travis Kelce had many shots on that day and eventually ended up confusing Hugh Grant's wife for Greta Gerwig and told her the Barbie joke instead. After the show, when Swift asked him about his experience with Gerwig, he told her that Greta might not have liked his joke, to which the Bad Blood singer wondered.

How did Taylor Swift find out about Travis Kelce's mix-up?

After the show, when Taylor Swift asked Travis Kelce about his experience, he said he had great company with Tom Cruise, Liam Hemsworth, and others. Swift's fiancé had also shared that he met Hugh Grant and expressed his love for Grant's movies. The Grammy-winning singer then asked him about Greta Gerwig.

"I'm like, 'Oh my god, that's awesome. Like you didn't mention Greta. Did you meet Greta?' And he's like, 'Yeah, I did. I think I told an annoying joke that she's heard too many times.' and I was like, 'Okay, well, what did you say?" He's like, 'Well, I walked up to her and I was like, I love Barbie. I'm just Ken, too. And then I pointed to you' and I was like, 'That's such a solid joke. Love that.' And he's like, 'Well, she was really polite about it. Like, she smiled politely, but she didn't say anything.'" Swift recalled her conversation with Kelce.

Further narrating the incident to Seth Meyers, Taylor Swift recalled that Travis Kelce told her that Greta Gerwig might be planning a movie with Hugh Grant, adding that they were "really close" and dancing together all night and seemed like "soulmates." Swift admitted that she thought it was "crazy" gossip and was also scrolling through her phone. She found out about a clip in which Kelce was dancing with Greta Gerwig.

"He keeps talking. I'm seeing all over the internet is just videos of Travis dancing with Greta all night like they're best friends. And I'm like, 'Travis, here's a video of you with Greta'... He goes, 'Oh, that's not Greta.' Do the math... 'Is there any chance at all, baby, that you complimented Hugh Grant's wife, Anna, on her movie Barbie... and she politely nodded because she didn't have the heart to tell you... Is there any chance that the people that look like soulmates are Hugh Grant and his soulmate?'" Taylor Swift recounted her conversation with Travis.

The audience cracked up loud when the Lover artist shared this incident about her fiancé. Seth Meyers also poked fun at it and said that the "bad news" for her is that Travis Kelce has "face blindness," but the good news is that he could "recognize true love."
