Nicole Kidman recently revealed a small but significant detail about her relationship with husband Keith Urban. The Oscar-winning actress shared that engaging in a specific activity with her husband of almost two decades makes her a better wife.

Kidman, in an interview with Allure, said,

“I watch car auctions with my husband. That’s a good wife.”

During her conversation with Allure, Kidman further gave a sneak peek into her domestic life. About playing the role of a mother in real life, Kidman told Allure,

“I sit on their beds and discuss the most intimate things; I get to be their guide. If they want to tell me to be quiet, they can. I'm able to apologize to them. I'm able to stand up to them. I very much like the relationship we have. It’s nice to be able to say that.”

The Allure interview unearthed the multiple roles that Kidman plays in real life. It shed light on the nature of relationships the superstar shares with people she considers close. Speaking about her mother, who passed away some time ago, Kidman shared,

“Losing my mother changed every part of me. I spoke to her every second or third day. And because she was on the other side of the world, if I woke up at 5:00 a.m., I'd get up, I'd walk around the block and I'd talk to her for an hour before the girls got up, before Keith got up. That was the rhythm of my day.”

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban lean on each other for support

While Nicole Kidman was candid about the nuances of her personal life, she revealed to the publication that she is actually an introvert. She further added that she is making a conscious effort to become an extrovert, an aspect of her personality on which she is working with some support and help from her husband. She shared,

“I’m working on being more extroverted, but my deep nature is a little introverted and shy. It’s not a fun place to be, but Keith's helped me. Even getting older, I think, you really start to expand rather than go inward.”

This is not the first time when Nicole Kidman has spoken to the media about the kind of support that she receives from her husband, singer Keith Urban. Kidman, during her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2014, spoke of the time when she lost her father.

“When you have your partner, who just carries you through a tough time…He has just been amazing to me, I recently lost my father, and to have my husband be, just step up for me, It just makes me cry. I’ll do anything for that man.”

In fact, the understanding that the couple shared between each other came across even in 2006, only a few months into their marriage. Kidman helped her husband check into a rehab facility in order to support him in his fight against addiction.

As per Today, Urban, during an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, credited his wife with supporting him through his journey towards sobriety. He shared with Oprah Winfrey

“She [Kidman] made a decision to turn around and initiate ultimately this intervention and it was done in such a way that the love in that room at that moment was just right. I was like, 'Put the cuffs on, let's go.’”

As per Urban’s admission, meeting Kidman was the most transformative moment of his life. In an interview with CBS, Urban said,

“Meeting her and getting married wasn’t life changing, it was life beginning. It was literally like ‘Okay. Life Starts’”

However, Urban noted that he ‘lacked courage’ to ask Kidman to meet him after they crossed each other’s paths.
