As per a recent article by US Weekly, CBS responds after Bill Belichick accused the network of not adhering to the set limitations during his "CBS Sunday Morning' interview.
As per the publication, Belichick had agreed to the interview with CBS Sunday Morning with the purpose of promoting his upcoming book, ‘The Art of Winning – Lessons from My Life in Football.' According to Belichick, it was decided that the questions of the interview should solely focus on the book and its content.
As per Page Six, CBS denied all the claims. A statement by the CBS News spokesperson was posted on X on April 30.
“When we agreed to speak with Mr. Belichick, it was for a wide-ranging interview.”
“There were no preconditions or limitations to this conversation. This was confirmed repeatedly with his publisher [Simon & Schuster] before the interview took place and after it was completed.” read the statement as per Page Six.
Bill Belichick appeared on the episode of CBS Sunday Mornings on April 27.
About what happened in the CBS Sunday Morning Episode
During Bill Belichick's interview with host Tony Dakoupil in an episode of CBS Sunday Morning, Dakoupil asked Belichick where he met his present girlfriend, Jordon Hudson. Belichick released a statement stating that the sole reason behind giving this interview was to promote his upcoming book.
To this, Hudson, who was also present, shut down Dakoupil and mentioned that he is not going to say anything about this topic.
"Not talking about this,” Hudson said to Dakoupil.
Belichick is 73 years old, and Hudson is 24. Both of them have an age gap of 49 years and have also spoken about it on public platforms as well. Hudson further mentioned that none of them is comfortable commenting on the same.
Belichick further mentioned that he was surprised at the question of meeting his girlfriend after repeatedly addressing that he prefers to keep the focus of the interview on his book— “The Art of Winning — Lessons from My Life in Football.”
“Unfortunately, that expectation was not honored during the interview. I was surprised when unrelated topics were introduced, and I repeatedly expressed to the reporter, Tony Dokoupil, and the producers that I preferred to keep the conversation centered on the book."
“After this occurred several times, Jordon, with whom I share both a personal and professional relationship, stepped in to reiterate that point to help refocus the discussion. She was not deflecting any specific question or topic but simply doing her job to ensure the interview stayed on track. Some of the clips make it appear as though we were avoiding the question of how we met, but we have been open about the fact that Jordon and I met on a flight to Palm Beach in 2021.”
He further concluded that the clips were edited, and the final eight-minute clip does not reveal the gist of the thirty-five-minute-long conversation they had.
"The final eight-minute segment does not reflect the productive 35-minute conversation we had, which covered a wide range of topics related to my career.”
Belichick and Hudson first met in the year 2023 and confirmed their relationship in June 2024 when Hudson shared photographs of her and Belichick on her social media account.
