Scarlett Johansson made her acting debut at 9 in the 1994 film North. She rose to fame by portraying the role of Grace MacLean in the 1998 film The Horse Whisperer. After over three decades of working in the entertainment industry, she made her directorial debut with the upcoming release, Eleanor the Great.

Johansson, 40, collaborated with Wayfarer Studios, co-founded by actor Justin Baldoni, 41, for the much-anticipated first directorial effort. In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, published on May 14, the actress opened up about partnering with the It Ends With Us star's production company.

Amid the ongoing legal feud between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, Scarlett Johansson's comments have broader significance.

The Lost in Translation actress chuckled after listening to questions hinting at Baldoni and answered:

"They were super supportive throughout the process."

Currently, Justin Baldoni is battling a high-profile legal lawsuit with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Before Lively, Reynolds was married to Johansson. They began dating in 2007 and got engaged in May of the same year.

According to Us Magazine, they married in a private ceremony in September 2008 at a scenic wilderness retreat on Vancouver Island, Canada. Two years later, they announced their separation in December 2010 and divorced legally in July 2011.

Scarlett Johansson opens up on directing Eleanor the Great

Us Magazine reported that Scarlett Johansson never met Justin during the filming schedules as he was occupied with It Ends With Us at that time.

Recalling that moment, she continued:

"Yeah, such weird timing."

Eleanor the Great is backed by multiple production companies and producers, and Baldoni's production company, launched in 2019, is one of them. The forthcoming film is scheduled for a grand world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 20, 2025.

At one point, Scarlett Johansson had to juggle being an actress and a director. She balanced her roles mindfully when she was cast as the leading lady for Jurassic World: Rebirth while she was immersed in making her debut in Hollywood as a director.

Right after wrapping up the shooting schedules for Eleanor the Great, she flew overseas to join the Jurassic World: Rebirth cast. While being asked about the differences in overall budgets for both movies, she responded with:

"I’d say Eleanor was, like, 300 times less."

Shooting Jurassic World: Rebirth was a long, tiring experience. However, Scarlett Johansson's exhaustion did not stop her from donning her hat as a director and joining the post-production team.

The locations for both projects were far apart, which helped her shift from one film set atmosphere to another.

Recounting the travel, she added:

"I was far away, so the time difference worked out where I could then go straight into editing, which was wonderful."

The actress continued her answer, asking the interviewer:

"Movies are so long now—they’re too long, don’t you think so?"

During the conversation, she commented on the process:

"It feels like a chore."

Jurassic World: Rebirth is scheduled to hit the screens on July 2, 2025.
