"They want to see Taylor Swift" — George Clooney gets candid on his and Amal's twins Ella and Alexander

George Clooney recently made an appearance at the 2025 Tony Awards held on June 8. While speaking to E! News at the awards ceremony, the actor shared an anecdote about his twins, Ella and Alexander, whom he shares with wife, Amal Clooney. Sharing his twins’ admiration and fascination for pop icon Taylor Swift, the 64-year-old actor told E! News,

“They want to see Taylor Swift.”

Clooney candidly went on to share with the news outlet the differences in taste between him and his twins when it came to pop culture. Clooney said,

“The funniest part is, that they have no idea of references. Robert DeNiro will be at the house and they’re like ‘Who’s that?’ They don’t care.”

This is one of the rare times when George Clooney has spoken to the media about his children. As per Harper’s Bazaar, both Clooney and his wife, human rights lawyer Amal, have avoided exposing their children to the media. As per Hello!, the couple has yet to reveal the faces of their twins, who are now eight.

The couple, who are well-known in their respective careers, have been the subject of extensive media reports throughout the ten years that they have been together. However, Clooney and Amal, who reside with their children in Provence, France, have aimed to protect their twins from the media fanfare associated with their parents’ lives. Speaking to Hello! earlier this year in March, Clooney shared,

“Growing up in Kentucky, all I wanted to do was get away from a farm, get away from that life. Now I find myself back in that life. I drive a tractor and all those things. It's the best chance of a normal life.”

In a 2024 interview with GQ, George Clooney shared an important reason behind keeping his children’s lives private. He said,

“So I have a goal of trying to protect. I don’t want pictures of my kids. We deal in very serious subject matters, with very serious bad guys, and we don’t want to have photos of our kids out there. So we have to work hard at trying to stay private, and it’s tricky, as you can imagine. There’s times you will avoid going to hospital with something that you would normally go to hospital for.”

During the conversation with GQ, Clooney further revealed that the very fact that he has children now plays a part in the decisions that he takes about his professional career. The actor-turned-director shared the reasons behind not directing films of late and said,

“The main reason is that it is a year on the road to direct, and now my kids are of a certain age. We’re not going to uproot our kids out of school and run around. Before that, they could just come with us and we would all go. But that’s different now. So now I’m going to just probably focus on other things, like acting.”

George Clooney also opened up about his relationship with his wife. During his interaction with E! News at the Tony Awards, the actor expressed,

“I have this incredible partner who I couldn’t be more proud of… She’s the bravest human being I’ve ever met in my life. I am deeply proud of her and the fact that she’s in any way proud of me, if just, I can’t believe how lucky I am.”

In an interview with CBS Mornings, George Clooney revealed that he and his wife have never had an argument in the ten years of their marriage.
