“This isn’t right” - Charlize Theron recalls harassment incident with “scumbag” director early in career

In the July 2 episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast, actress Charlize Theron talked about an alleged harassment incident she faced early in her career and why she hasn't revealed the director's name. According to Deadline, Theron first shared the incident on The Howard Stern Show in 2019.

Charlize Theron is a 49-year-old South African-American actress and film producer. She has appeared in numerous commercially and critically acclaimed films. She has won multiple awards, like an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award.

According to Deadline, the actress shared on the Call Her Daddy podcast that she recalled an incident that happened when she went for an audition at a director's house early in her career. Theron shared that the unnamed director, who greeted her in his pajamas, put his hands on her knees, prompting her to leave.

“I didn’t know what the audition process looked like. I didn’t know how you went about being an actor… [my agency] said there was a casting for this movie and you’ll have to go on a Saturday night. It was this director’s house. The little voice inside me definitely said, ‘This isn’t right.’ But then, the other voice in me says, ‘Well, I don’t know. Maybe it is right.'”

Speaking further, the Fast and Furious actress explained why he is not revealing his name. According to Deadline, Charlize Theron shared that after the director heard her narrate the incident, he reached out and tried to explain his behavior.

“He wrote me a pretend letter trying to explain his behavior and how I must have misunderstood it, which is classic, isn’t it? It’s so classic.”

Charlize Theron continued,

“I won’t even fucking say your name because you know you’re the scumbag. You know it’s you. If anybody ever asked me about him, I would be completely honest — and he knows that. I kind of like that he’s got to be on a hot seat. He doesn’t know when it’s going to come. I kind of like that a little more.”

According to People Magazine, Theron appeared on the Call Her Daddy Podcast to promote her new movie, The Old Guard 2. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alex Cooper, the host of Call Her Daddy, recently accused her college soccer coach of alleged s*xual harassment in her documentary, Call Her Alex.

According to People Magazine, during her appearance on the podcast, Theron, a single mother to two adopted daughters, Jackson and August, also talked about her dating life.

According to The New York Post, Charlize Theron, who has not been in a public relationship for a long time, recently shared on the Call Her Daddy podcast about her "hook-up" with a 26-year-old. The actress further shared that she does not want to date a man in the industry, as she thinks that it is neither a "smart thing" nor a "good thing" for her.
