Director and actor Timothy Busfield has been issued an arrest warrant following claims of alleged s*xual assault of minors. According to the New York Post, the investigation began in November 2024. At the time, police were called to the University of New Mexico Hospital by a doctor. The police official spoke to the parents of the children. They informed the children were working on Busfield’s The Cleaning Lady.

The director allegedly became close to the minor boys, and he even tickled them on their bodies. The police were informed that the children seemed to have been groomed. One of the boys said that Busfield even touched his private parts. As per the affidavit by the Albuquerque police, the kids were afraid of the director.

When he was asked whether he had tickled the kids, Timothy Busfield said that he must have. However, he claimed that the parents were around. Later, he claimed:

“I don’t remember those boys. No, I don’t. I don’t actually, I don’t remember it, if it happened. I don’t remember overtly tickling the boys ever, but it wouldn’t be uncommon for me.”

According to Celebrity Net Worth, the Thirtysomething actor had a net worth of $500 thousand. However, this is a combined net worth that he shares with his wife, the actress Melissa Gilbert. In 2003, he bought a house near Malibu for $1.25 million. However, the house was put on sale in 2008 for $1.995 million.

Melissa Gilbert and Timothy Busfield bought a house in New York for $98,000 in 2019.

What did Timothy Busfield say about his father?

In April 2025, Timothy Busfield appeared on Julian Schlossberg's Movie Talk show, where the director was asked about his upbringing. He said that his mother was a believer and always told him that he could do whatever he wanted. He said:

“She gave me that confidence. My dad on the other hand told me, my dad had a PhD at theater and he told me I didn't have the talent to make it. So, the motivation was a plus because there was no way I wasn't going to prove it to him.”

Timothy Busfield went on to say:

“But, you know, growing up with a dad that had taught, he wasn't teaching anymore that I can remember. But my brother had a movie camera and loved Stein's makeup and building beards and my sister was the lead in all the plays.”

Busfield compared the situation to an athlete. He said sometimes the baby athlete was the one who ended up playing better and getting more success than his siblings. The director said that in his case, his father’s positivity came through his negativity. He was determined to prove that he was good at what he does and was talented. He added:

“Then of course once I made it, he took all credit.”

However, Timothy Busfield said he made his father proud, and he was motivated by that idea. He said he loved his father and worked harder. He said he was also motivated by his brother’s learnings who was studying Jazz.
