Sean Diddy Combs has been alleged to have something to do with Tupac Shakur’s death, as claimed by Duane Keith “Keffe D” Davis. On September 8, USA Today published a report comprising insights from court records and certain files, in which Davis made the allegation that Combs paid $1 million to get Suge Knight and Shakur killed.
The news outlet claims that Keffe D said so during a private conversation with the police. Besides this allegation, two other claims mentioned that Combs, at one point, boasted about ordering the hit. Additionally, he provided monetary assistance in getting the vehicle during the shooting of Tupac Shakur.
Despite the rumors and allegations, Combs was never officially suspected in the Do For Love rapper's death, and had previously claimed that he had nothing to do with it. As per the documents, which contained interview records and were kept away from the public for some time, it was mentioned that in 1994, Tupac was charged with s*xual assault.
However, he was not in custody during the trial and since he did not have enough money at the time, he agreed to work with Little Shawn on a track. When he arrived at the studio, he was allegedly shot at, and claimed that Diddy and Biggie Smalls, who were present at the studio, showed strange behavior.
Later, after Suge Knight negotiated a deal to take over Shakur's contract and get him to Death Row, he took a jab at Combs in his comments at the 1995 Source Awards, referring to Tupac joining Death Row. This led to Knight and Combs being at odds. According to Davis, Combs had claimed that he would harm Knight and Shakur.
In his 2019 book, Compton Street Legend, Keffe D claimed that he received a call from Diddy’s associate, and they agreed to meet somewhere. They met at a restaurant where Combs told him that Suge Knight and Shakur needed to be taken care of.
Others who made claims about Diddy harming Tupac Shakur
Kirk Burrowess, the co-founder of Bad Boys, claimed in a new legal complaint, filed in March 2025, that Diddy was involved in the Tupac Shakur shooting and probably rented the car that was involved in the incident, USA Today notes. In his lawsuit, Burrowess said:
“Combs expressed paranoia and frustration over Shakur's success, indicating a deep-seated need to diminish his rival's influence.”
His suit also mentions:
“Combs allegedly made statements to insiders suggesting that Shakur's presence in the industry threatened his legacy, leading him to take increasingly aggressive measures to overshadow and eliminate competition.”
Diddy allegedly hired people to drive cars across LA and New York, but when Burrowess asked if that was necessary, he was ordered to stay shut about it.
Meanwhile, Combs’s attorneys responded to Burrowess’s claims, saying that the new lawsuit was another pointless attempt to bring back claims that had already been rejected many times over the past 30 years. His lawyers claimed that the suit was a waste of time.
A similar claim was also made by another person, Steve Otis, who, in his lawsuit, claimed that he was once s*xually assaulted by Diddy, who later threatened him to not disclose anything about it. According to Otis, Combs told him that if he could order a hit on Tupac, he could do anything with him.
