Podcaster Alex Cooper was met with an unexpected response from the crowd on July 6, 2025, during her performance at Wrigley Field for the baseball game between the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs.
The screen at the stadium showed her singing Frank Sinatra’s Take Me Out to the Ballgame, with two girls performing behind her. As seen in the videos circulating on social media platforms, the crowd appeared upset with the performance, leading to loud booing.
Social media users also reacted to Alex Cooper's rendition, and many accused her of mocking the song. Here’s what they wrote:
“As she should've been. 99.9% of celebrities who have had this honor, many much much bigger than her, are able to humble themselves and just sing the song but she had to make a mockery of it for TikTok clout,” an X user commented.
“It was very bad. And she had a dance or something it was awful,” an online commentator wrote.
“She reminds me of those xD girls from high school whose video projects would be 75% blooper reel,” a netizen mentioned.
The Chicago Cubs previously announced Alex Cooper’s performance during the 7th inning on their website. They invited fans to join the fun during "Big Al’s Takeover." People who bought the special tickets got to watch the Cubs play against the Cardinals and also received a special souvenir jersey.
Alex Cooper shares her thoughts about being bullied in school
In 2022, Alex Cooper was interviewed by Jay Shetty on his podcast. When Shetty asked if she had always been confident with her work, Cooper shared that when she was younger, she was bullied at school for her looks.
She said she was skinny, had a lot of acne, and kids made fun of her. It got so bad that she sometimes begged her parents to let her stay home. She kept most of it to herself because she felt embarrassed and didn’t want her parents to worry.
What helped her during that tough time was when her father, who worked in sports, gave her a camera and told her to make something creative. Making videos became her way to escape the sadness.
Even though she didn’t like how she looked, she knew inside that she was a kind person, a good daughter, and a good friend. Alex Cooper said:
“I would go in my basement and I would make music videos or I would write scripts and make like little short films or silent films and I would put on wigs and put on outfits and makeup and it was the first time that I truly felt safe like I could be fully myself.”
Alex Cooper shared that she played soccer, and she felt safe and accepted while playing. She said soccer was all about what she could do for the team, like scoring goals or helping out. That made her feel good, and she thought it was interesting how different it felt from other parts of her life.
