Gervonta Davis's boxing match with Jake Paul has reportedly been cancelled in light of a lawsuit filed against the former. According to court documents secured by news outlets, Gervonta's ex-girlfriend, Courtney Rossel, filed a lawsuit against him.

In the lawsuit, Courtney is seeking damages for a workplace incident and other instances of aggravated assault against her, which have resulted in "emotional distress" and damage. The court documents read that Davis entered Courtney's workplace on October 27, 2025 and,

"choked, grabbed, pulled, pushed, and hit Rossel in the back of the head."

Courtney was reportedly in a relationship with Gervonta 'Tank' for five months before the incident. She has claimed that she was assaulted on multiple occasions by Tank and that he threatened to "k*ll" her at least two times in September.

Gervonta Davis's ex-girlfriend, Courtney Rossel's filed a lawsuit in a Miami court, citing aggravated assault at her workplace. The former complaint revolves around a recent incident when Tank entered a gentleman's club, where Rossel worked as a cocktail server.

After the lawsuit came into the public light, Jake's organisation, Most Valuable Promotions, reported that they launched an "investigation". They confirmed on October 4 that the match will not go through and emphasised that they condemn any form of "violence."

Courtney has elaborated on the emotional consequences of the assault. The lawsuit read that she had developed symptoms consistent with the diagnosis of "Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder" and had been subjected to "abuse" by another individual. The suit elaborates on her fears and notes that she

"lives in a constant state of fear and is unable to feel safe in her own home. She is having trouble dealing with day to day life, including eating, sleeping having nightmares and socialization."

They added that she is currently "seeking therapeutic treatment to address the severe emotional and psychological harm" caused by Tank. They added,

"She remains afraid to live alone and has been forced to reside with another person for safety and emotional stability."

It emphasised that Davis's "wilful" actions have led to lasting consequences for his former partner. It also elaborates on previously filed charges against Gervonta Davis, especially acts of violence against women. According to Fox 8, he was previously arrested earlier this year for assaulting the mother of his two children.
