Outgoing NYC mayor Eric Adams is seemingly upset with what Andy Cohen said about him. During CNN’s New Year’s Eve show with Anderson Cooper, Cohen said:

“Watching the final moments of Mayor Adams, chaotic. I just want to say I mean he got his pardons.”

While others tried to stop him from speaking up, he went on to say:

“Great. You got your pardons. Go off into sunset. We'll fiddle with what we have with what you've left us with. Go dance away. We'll see you at all the parties. You party your way through.”

At one point, Anderson Cooper asked if this was how they planned to enter 2026. However, Andy Cohen kept on saying:

“No. I just want to say no. Goodbye, Mayor Adams. You did it. You did it, didn't you? Honestly, but I will say this. I think he maybe dented the rat population.”

Andy Cohen said that Eric Adams might have gotten rid of some of the rats, calling it a “metaphor of sorts.” He added that it would be 2026 and “less rats.” Cohen’s statement was covered by the New York Daily News. Resharing the news on X, Eric Adams wrote:

“My response to @Andy: AA. Another sloppy drunken rant. If anyone actually cares about him, they’ll tell him to get help. New Yorkers aren’t laughing with him. They are concerned about him. Public intoxication is a disease. He should seek help. He was safe in Times Square because we did our job. Again. Seek help. AAA: Andy’s Alcohol Anonymous.”

Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper talk about being drunk

In December 2025, Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper were invited on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. During the conversation, Colbert mentioned how they took one shot every hour while covering the New Year’s Eve. The host then brought shots during the show, and Cohen jokingly said that he took one shot every Wednesday night on Watch What Happens Live.

After taking the shots, Colbert mentioned that following the New Year’s Eve broadcast in 2024, they went to Patti LuPone’s afterparty. Cooper said that Cohen dragged him to the party. When Cooper said that it was a wonderful party, Andy Cohen interrupted and said:

“You remember none of it. You were so drunk.”

Cooper agreed that he might have been drunk. He mentioned:

“I don't drink other than when I'm with this guy on New Year's Eve.”

Stephen Colbert then asked how Cooper behaved, and Andy Cohen said:

“Well, let me say this. Around 10:45 on New Year's Eve every year, I become the straight man of our broadcast. Okay. and I am driving the ship of CNN starting at 10:45.”

He continued:

“I hear the slur in his voice. I know his voice so well. And last year, I really did get him a little drunk on New Year's Eve. And so, by the time we went to Patti's house, it was…”

Anderson Cooper said that he was “fully in control.” Although he did not remember much, it was fun. He jokingly said that he would check online to see how Andy Cohen “screwed” them over.
