On June 2, 2025, People magazine published an exclusive report about hair stylist Dwight Eubanks’ prostate cancer diagnosis. In a statement to the magazine outlet, he shared that the diagnosis came in January 2025. Nevertheless, he stated that a treatment plan was in place.

Although not much is known about his personal life, Essence reported in 2020 that he was engaged to a woman. Several outlets mention that he is currently married. However, details about his spouse are private.

Dwight Eubanks is well-known for his role in Real Housewives of Atlanta. He told People,

“When you hear the word cancer, you freak out. I'm human. Society has told us that cancer was just devastating and, you know, you just have days to live. So of course I freaked out and I think I'm still freaked out.”

Eubanks attended a health fair at his church in January 2025 to get a blood test. About a week later, his doctor asked him to come in urgently. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Dwight Eubanks works with ZERO Prostate Cancer and has been supporting and encouraging people to get screening tests. His grandfather also had this type of cancer, but never revealed it to the family. However, he was informed that he didn’t stand a high chance of getting diagnosed with the cancer. He said,

“So I'm thinking that I'm good. I was confident that I was Superman. I was cleared. I was going to be okay and I just never thought about it.”

Unlike his grandfather, who kept his diagnosis private, Dwight Eubanks chose to be open about it from the beginning.

Meanwhile, he was surprised that his cancer wasn't flagged earlier because he had routine checkups every six months. When his healthcare professional looked at his medical records from 2022, they found that he had elevated PSA levels. Eubanks said,

“I was like, are you kidding me? This was back in 2022 and nobody said anything to me. He just said, ‘You're undetectable, so you are fine.’ Never said anything about my prostate. I guess they just weren’t looking at that.”

Dwight Eubanks was dealing with his experience with a sense of humor, saying he had to laugh to keep from breaking down. He believed that a higher power had been preparing him for this moment so he could be a source of hope for others.

He felt it was important to speak out in case it encouraged others to get tested early. He emphasized the value of asking questions, reviewing medical records, and staying informed.

Rather than dwelling on what could have been, he focused on being present, staying grateful, and supporting others through their journeys. Dwight Eubanks said,

“So we are exploring possibilities to see what route to go and we have not come up with that yet. I have a great team, about four different doctors: two urologists, another specialist and my family physician. So I'm comfortable and I'm forever grateful to have such a team and support. And we are going to figure it out.”

Dwight Eubanks shared that he felt well, and at 64, he felt he was not too old. He acknowledged that everyone faced challenges at some point, but believed it was important to keep going, face difficulties head-on, recover, and move forward. For him, life remained something beautiful despite the hardships.
