On July 31, the Jonas Brothers trio sat down with celebrity chef Josh Scherer on Last Meal, a show on Scherer’s YouTube channel Mythical Kitchen. After Scherer introduced them on the show, Joe Jonas said he had a story about Buzz Aldrin to share. Scherer said he would love to listen, to which Joe said:
“He refused to take a picture with me and somebody came to him and said, ‘You should probably take a picture with him.’ So, we did get the photo.”
Joe Jonas said he managed to click a photo with Buzz Aldrin at the Cowboys football game. The Jonas Brothers seem to have met Aldrin in 2017. On September 11, 2017, Buzz Aldrin posted a photo with the Jonas Brothers on his X account, captioning it:
“I met the Jonas Brothers at the @dallascowboys game. Apparently they're hot stuff because my Mission Director @Buzzs_xtina said so.”
Joe Jonas said anyone in that situation would agree to click a photo, but Buzz Aldrin didn’t initially. Josh Scherer’s reaction to the episode was:
“If anyone’s earned the right to be a d*ck, it’s kind of Buzz Aldrin, the man on moon.”
He then asked the brothers if they had any stories about Albert Einstein or Harriet Tubman, to which Kevin Jonas said he didn’t. At the beginning of the episode, Scherer said the three brothers are members of the New Jersey Hall of Fame. Kevin clarified that they were not in the Hall of Fame yet, but only the inductees for the year. He said:
“They could actually take it away from us.”
Joe Jonas joked:
“Hopefully, Buzz Aldrin is not on the board.”
What did Joe say about the Jonas Brothers’ new album?
Scherer then brought up the Jonas Brothers’ new album, Greetings from Your Hometown. When asked about the cover image of the three brothers sitting at an old Italian restaurant, Joe Jonas shared that they had some disagreements in their team.
Some people wanted their faces to be more visible since fans usually like that. However, the Jonas Brothers felt the picture captured the feeling of visiting your hometown well. Joe also explained that not everyone feels proud of where they come from.
For them, returning to their own hometown felt strange and uncomfortable in some ways, especially in certain areas. He added:
“And we chose that photo because it was a representation of like actually what it's like. You sit around and you have conversation and that can be anywhere.”
Joe went on:
“This is great. We're glad to experience this together, but this captures a moment where we were genuinely just having a nice time together and, and we were like, let's take the photos behind us and kind of redo them with photo because there's a lot of gangsters.”
When Josh Scherer asked who among the Jonas Brothers had a tough relationship with their hometown, Nick Jonas explained that it was complicated for all of them. He said that in the past six months, he had spent some time in New York and also visited New Jersey, where Kevin and their family live.
This helped him start to feel thankful for their hometown. He shared that it used to be painful to go back because their family was pushed out of the community they had helped build. Their dad, a minister, lost his job, and everything suddenly changed.
He said it hurt a lot and made them feel betrayed. However, he mentioned that they healed from that pain, and now they can look back and see how those difficult moments helped shape who they became and how they see the world.
