New York Jets football cornerback Kris Boyd is reportedly in a serious condition following a shooting incident, the New York Post exclusively reports. The incident took place on November 16 when Boyd was shot, following which he was taken to Bellevue Hospital.

The police noted that the incident happened at West 38th Street, which was close to Seventh Avenue. The outlet mentions that he was involved in an altercation just near the Sei Less restaurant. The situation escalated, and the gunmen fired two shots, as informed by the law enforcement. Although critical, Boyd is reportedly stable at the hospital. His friend Ernest Quander said:

“He’s all good right now. He’s in good condition. He’s doing real good.”

As per sources, two cars: a Mercedes and a BMW, were at the incident site, but they managed to get away. According to a representative:

“We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time.”

According to the BBC, the police were called to the scene at 2 a.m., and they responded outside the high-end restaurant. Although nobody has been arrested yet, an investigation is being carried out. New York Jets linebacker Jermaine Johnson shared an X post on November 16, writing:

“Everybody please send prayers to my brother and teammate Kris Boyd and his family!!! Lord please hold your healing hand over Kris and guide him back to health and safety. Lord I ask that you please just get him through this safely. In your name, Amen.”

Boyd played with the Houston Texans before he joined the New York Jets. In August 2025, he suffered a shoulder injury while practising with his team.

Eric Adams and Harrison Phillips wish for Kris Boyd’s speedy recovery

In an X post on November 17, Mayor Eric Adams prayed for Kris Boyd’s recovery and his family. Adams wrote:

“Although we’ve gotten shootings to historic lows in our city, we must continue to work to end gun violence. Too many young lives have been tragically altered and cut short by this epidemic.”

Kris Boyd’s teammate Harrison Phillips also posted his thoughts about the incident on his X, writing:

“Father God, we come to you right now, asking for your healing power over KB. You are a God of miracles. Lord, place your mighty hand on him as he fights lord God. Guide every doctor, nurse, and surgeon who touches him lord. Give his family strength! Kris is a fighter and we’re all here for him.”

As understood from his Instagram posts, Kris Boyd was signed with the New York Jets in March 2025. At the time, he shared an Instagram post announcing the news as he wrote:

“When we follow God’s plan and timing for our own lives, we assist the process of spiritual growth!”

According to The Guardian, Boyd once said that he was grateful for even the small things in life. He explained that people often asked why he smiled so much, and he told them it was because he felt lucky to still be alive.
