Lloyd Hudson, Irish pop star Linda Nolan’s stepson, passed away on May 6. The news comes just months after Nolan’s demise, a result of complications arising from her secondary breast cancer.

Hudson was suffering from throat cancer, which he was diagnosed with in 2023. At the time of Hudson’s diagnosis, doctors observed after conducting medical tests that the cancerous tumor could not be operated on and removed due to its size and proximity to the vocal chords, as per a report by The Pinnacle Gazette.

By next year, it was revealed that Lloyd Hudson’s cancer had spread rapidly, making his medical condition graver, as per a report by Yahoo.

It is notable that Hudson’s diagnosis and battle with cancer coincided with his step mother’s own fight with breast cancer. Linda Nolan succumbed to complications from double pneumonia earlier this year.

Nolan had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 as per The Independent. However, at the time, her treatment proved successful and by 2011 there were no traces of cancerous growth in her body, as per Yahoo. In 2017, however, Nolan was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer.

Nolan’s diagnosis in 2017 revealed that the cancer had spread to her hips and pelvis. By 2020, the cancer had spread to her liver, and three years later, reached her brain, as per The Independent.

The Sun reported that Lloyd Hudson’s cancer treatment began when his step mother was undergoing immunotherapy for her rapidly-spreading cancer. A friend spoke to the new outlet and said,

“They were fighting side by side, Linda would finish her treatment and text him to check in… They joked about their meds, shared their side effects, cried together too. Linda really thought he’d outlive her. She needed that belief.”

Lloyd Hudson and Linda Nolan shared a close relationship. Hudson was the son of Nolan’s husband, Brian Hudson. Linda and Brian were married for 26 years before he passed away.

Tributes for Lloyd Hudson

Tributes poured in from Lloyd Hudson’s loved ones and well-wishers. One of Hudson’s cousins mourned his passing on social media. She wrote in a now-deleted Facebook post,

“My brain won’t accept this is true. My big cousin.. @lloydahudson ….the one that took me to my first ever London warehouse DnB rave, played wild with me …but protected me, could make me belly laugh with crude humour ….but also have the best deep and meaningfuls. I have to hold on to the memories … some of the best and craziest bastard memories I have ever made that I will take to the grave”

She expressed her anguish at the death of her cousin, adding,

“right now the devastation is clouding everything. What I wouldn’t give for one more heart to heart round the park, or just a pizza night…. I haven’t even got the mental strength to seek out any pictures of us when we were young and I so DESPERATELY want to see them right now….. the 3 most recent pics we took are were still in my camera roll….”

Lloyd Hudson’s cousin also pointed out that she hopes Hudson is reunited with his father and stepmother in the afterlife. She wrote,

“I hope you were welcomed by your Pops and Aunty Lin and you are no longer suffering. The injustice of you being SO insightful recently and having so many years ripped away from you is the part that is destroying me more than anything…Cancer can F**K OFF. It has literally ripped my family apart on both sides and every angle for the past 5 months. I’m done with being positive right now.”

Another well-wisher wrote on X,

"Rest In Peace Lloyd Hudson”

As per Daily Mail, a friend of the family shared insights into what Nolan’s response to Hudson’s passing would have been were she alive. The friend said,

“Lloyd wasn’t just Brian’s son, he became Linda’s too. She loved him with all her heart…If Linda were here, she’d be screaming that this isn’t fair. She fought for everyone else, now we’ve lost them both. It’s more than any family should bear. They had a special relationship.”

Well-wishers have lent their support to the greiving Hudson and Nolan families.
