What happened to Megan Thee Stallion’s parents? Rapper’s beau Klay Thompson says he “would have loved to meet Holly and Joe”

Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson have been speaking fondly of each other. The couple was recently spotted at the Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala on July 16. In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, the basketball player praised Stallion for her work.

The Pete & Thomas Foundation was an initiative by the rapper, which she founded in 2022 to honor her parents, Holly Thomas and Joseph Pete III. According to Hot97, Thomas lost her life to a brain tumor in 2019. Joseph died four years before Holly in 2015, due to cardiac arrest, the San Francisco Chronicle notes.

Speaking to the outlet, Klay Thompson said he wished he had gotten a chance to get introduced to Megan Thee Stallion’s parents. According to him, he:

“Would have loved to meet Holly and Joe. I know both of them would be so proud of their only daughter because of what — not only what she’s been able to accomplish, what she’s also going to continue to do."

He went on:

"She has never been put in a box, or allowed herself to be in a box, and she just continues to inspire so many people around the world. And, on top of that, raise a ton of money this evening and just do so much for so many in need.”

Megan Thee Stallion told the outlet that she believed Klay Thompson would have been approved by her parents. She said her mother would have been happy that she finally chose a good man after meeting many wrong ones. She also felt her father would have been happy.

Speaking to Page Six at the event, Megan Thee Stallion shared that this was the first time she had been in a relationship with someone kind and made her happy.

She said she had never dated anyone like him before and felt thankful to have him by her side, especially since he felt the same about her. Klay Thompson also applauded his partner. He told Us Weekly:

“Well, it feels incredible because Megan is such a special person, and she inspires so many around the world. I’ve seen it firsthand. This is just another incredible feat of hers to be able to give back, create a foundation, and raise a ton of money for those in need.”

Megan Thee Stallion also told People Magazine that her relationship with Klay Thompson was like a cinematic world, calling him the “nicest” person. While speaking about her work with the foundation, she remembered her parents, saying:

“I feel like they can see what I’m doing right now. I feel like they’re looking down on me from heaven, and I feel like they’re like, ‘Yes, daughter!’ I feel like my momma’s so happy.”

Megan Thee Stallion said she felt like her mother was cheering for her. She believed her great-grandmother would be happy.

When she accepted the 2021 Glamour Woman of the Year Award, Stallion got emotional and thanked her late mother for raising her. She said her mother taught her how to be the woman she had become. She shared that her mother was her best friend, her manager, and meant everything to her.
