She also discussed the challenge of preparing 48 songs for the film despite having no formal music training.

When talking about her dual role, she admitted Emilia was harder to play than Manitas:

“Society has this requirement for women that we always have to be perfect. And that happened to me when I was playing Emilia. I always felt like, Oh, she’s not perfect enough. She’s not beautiful or attractive enough.” She said the process of embodying both characters left a lasting effect on her.

Karla Sofía Gascón often shared her pride in the project online. However, her personal opinions on other matters sparked debate and circulated widely, with some suggesting they distracted from the film’s success during awards season.

Amid the ongoing focus on Karla Sofía Gascón, Adriana Paz has shared her own perspective. She said she holds no anger or resentment toward her co-star. Speaking to El Universal, she explained:

“I haven’t fought with her. What I had to say to her, I already said, and I won’t crucify her.”

Paz stressed that every individual is responsible for their own actions and words.

She added, “Who am I to judge? Every person is responsible for the things they say and do, and they have to assume that, but I don’t hate her nor wish her ill.”

She also recognized Gascón’s work on Emilia Perez:

If I run into her, I’ll surely say hello, because she was my castmate and my scene partner, and she was generous in her role. I think her work has nothing to do with what she said. She did great work, and she left her skin on set. I won’t deny that,” Paz said.
