Columnist Kat Timpf shared her thoughts about the Vanity Fair editor’s reaction to Melania Trump being featured on the magazine cover. Timpf was on the Gutfeld! show, where she showed a Daily Mail report stating that a Vanity Fair editor would like to keep Melania on the cover.
However, the staff members at the magazine are reportedly unhappy over it, and they would quit their jobs if this happens. One editorial member told the Daily Beast:
“I will walk out the mother*cking door, and half my staff will follow me. We are not gonna normalise this desp*t and his wife; we’re just not going to do it. We’re going to stand for what’s right.”
Timpf quoted another Vanity Fair employee’s statement, who said there were doubts about people leaving such a reputable job. According to the columnist, such a decision to leave one’s job is not a good idea. She jokingly compared the situation with Greg Gutfeld, saying:
“Like when Greg’s contract talks stalled over his demand for a second helicopter.”
Kat Timpf noted that over 77 million people cast their votes in support of Donald Trump, although some of them didn’t successfully make it to the polls. However, she noted that Melania Trump appeared on Vanity Fair Mexico’s cover in 2017. Besides Melania, Michelle Obama and Jill Biden also appeared on some of the magazine covers, including Vogue. Timpf said:
“The bottom line, refusing to work with people with whom you disagree is ridiculous. And it’s a lesson these magazine staffers need to learn because people everywhere are starting to realize it.”
Kat Timpf shares her message with Vanity Fair employees
Kat Timpf mentioned how some left-aligned media and magazine outlets give prominence to conservatives. She said it was not a big deal for the magazine staff to see a magazine cover with someone they didn’t like. Sh e explained that at work, everyone had to deal with people or things they didn’t enjoy, and that was just part of having a job.
According to her, most people probably had at least one coworker they couldn’t stand. Kat Timpf went on:
“So, if you work at Vanity Fair and think that Trump and Melania are awful, that’s fine. No one is expecting to change your mind, but what you shouldn’t expect is for the entire trajectory of the magazine to revolve around you and your opinion. That’s not compassion. That’s self-obsession.”
Kat Timpf added:
“You should want to hear other people’s opinions because sometimes, they make valid points. No one’s always right, except for me when I am arguing with my husband.”
Timpf then asked one of the guests on the Gutfeld! show, actor Jamie Lissow, what he thought about the incident. Lissow said they should put Melania Trump on the cover because it would probably sell more copies than ever. He joked that if she got to be on Vanity Fair, then Michelle Obama should get to be on Men’s Health.
