Aaron Phypers’ cousin, Kathleen McAllister, testified in her brother's ongoing divorce battle with Denise Richards. Phypers filed for legal separation in July 2025. According to Entertainment Weekly, Richards alleged that Phypers showed violent behavior against her. She also has a restraining order against him.

During a court hearing about the restraining order on October 6, where McAllister was virtually present, she mentioned a 2022 incident, saying:

“I saw Aaron hit Denise and immediately she had a really bad black eye. I'm literally in shock now to this day about it.”

She said the couple had been at loggerheads before this incident, as Phypers suspected that Denise Richards had planted listening devices in his workspace.

Kathleen McAllister also said she once saw Aaron Phypers pin Richards against a concrete wall near his truck. She said he was choking her, and her head hit the wall so hard that she got a concussion. McAllister said Richards looked upset, , confused, and in pain, and she was worried that Richards could have died from it.

Per Entertainment Weekly, McAllister also recalled a time when Denise Richards had to hide from Phypers. She said:

“Aaron was terrorizing her, and she was looking for support.”

Speaking of Phypers, she added:

“He just would be raging and threatening that if we told anybody, he’d kill us all. As abuse escalated through the years, he exploited our empathy.”

Meanwhile, in her testimony, Richards said that Aaron Phypers would threaten her with causing physical harm. She said there were times when he would make remarks about throwing her off the balcony and would almost risk her life multiple times.

Denise Richards now seeks to get a permanent restraining order against Aaron Phypers. They are expected to be in court on October 8. Aaron Phypers had previously told People Magazine that Richards’ claims were false. During the testimony, when the judge asked if Phypers used any substance, Kathleen McAllister said:

“Aaron was what anyone would refer to as an alcoholic, so that fueled the aggression.”

Denise Richards’ lawyer said that McAllister agreed to speak only if her name wasn’t shared publicly. The lawyer explained that McAllister was scared of Phypers and had been nearby when the 2022 incident happened. She didn’t want her name mentioned in the news because she was afraid someone might try to scare or threaten her.

According to Us Weekly, Aaron Phypers previously shared a statement about the situation, saying:

“Denise and I, like many couples, have faced our share of challenges, but any suggestion of abuse is categorically untrue. I have always tried to approach our marriage with love, patience, and respect. I ask for privacy as we navigate personal matters, and I hope that the public and media will refrain from spreading harmful and baseless claims.”

Per court documents, Denise Richards stated that during their marriage, Aaron often threatened to kill her, himself, and even the police. She also said he had hurt her badly several times, giving her three concussions, and that he owned many unregistered guns along with bulletproof vests.
