Matthew Perry, best known for playing Chandler Bing on Friends, died in October 2023. At the time of his death, his estimated net worth was $120 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. Most of this wealth came from his long acting career and syndication royalties from Friends.

His personal bank account, however, held only about $1.5 million. This was confirmed in official estate documents submitted after his death. The rest of his assets were placed in a trust known as the Alvy Singer Living Trust.

The trust was set up in 2009 and named after a character from the film Annie Hall. It included most of Perry’s wealth and named his parents, a half-sibling, and an ex-girlfriend as beneficiaries.

Matthew Perry's doctor pleads guilty in drug case

In July 2025, Dr. Salvador Plasencia pleaded guilty in a federal case, as reported by the Los Angeles Times on July 23, 2025. He pleaded guilty to illegal administration of ketamine to Matthew Perry weeks before he died, although he did not administer the fatal dose.

According to the prosecutors, Plasencia was attached to a bigger network that had been supplying drugs to celebrities. He has been charged with a maximum sentence of 40 years of incarceration and fines totaling $2 million. Also, under the terms of the plea agreement, he was to forfeit his medical license.

It is through the case that the issue of the vulnerability of patients to controlled drugs as facilitated by some doctors has been highlighted. Plasencia claimed that he felt remorseful and was entirely responsible for his part.
