Did Winona Ryder confess love to Al Pacino? 'Stranger Things' star opens up about past feelings

Stranger Things' star Winona Ryder is opening up about her co-actor, Al Pacino. Pacino and Ryder have previously worked on two movies together, which include Simone and Looking for Richard.

In a recent interview with Elle Magazine, Ryder spoke about Pacino, saying:

"I was absolutely in love with Al Pacino when I was working with him. We were doing that workshop for Richard III, which I didn’t know was going to be a movie. I was actively in love with him."

Ryder revealed that Pacino used to take her around the city to try different coffees. The two co-stars have a 32-year age gap, with Winona being 53 and Pacino 85 as of 2025.

Remembering that she was around 22 at the time, Winona shared that she once confessed her feelings to Pacino while he was dropping her off, saying she told him:

"I love you, you know. I really am completely in love with you."

However, her confession was gently turned down by Pacino, who responded kindly, saying:

"Aw, honey, noooo."

Though Winona Ryder was turned down back then, she recalled meeting Pacino’s girlfriend years later, who was actually younger than her. Laughing, she added that the two still play poker sometimes, which reflects that they’ve stayed in touch and on good terms.

Ryder has been dating Scott Mackinlay Hahn for more than ten years now, starting in 2011. The couple first met at the Black Swan premiere in 2010, where he initially thought she was American actress Milla Jovovich, after which Ryder asked him for a date.

Speaking of Hahn, she told Elle Magazine,

"We’re homebodies when it comes to food. He has this gift that my mom had, which is making healthy food delicious."

Before dating Hahn, Winona Ryder was reportedly engaged to Johnny Depp. The couple dated for about four years, from 1989 to 1993. Both Winona and Hahn have remained very private about their relationship, only occasionally sharing photos together.

According to The Mirror, Al Pacino was last in a public relationship with Noor Alfallah. Alfallah is currently 31 years old, making their age difference around 54 years. The couple also welcomed a son, Roman Pacino, in 2023. However, they ended their relationship last year.

Winona Ryder is all set to appear in the final season of Stranger Things. The show will be released on Netflix in three parts, reportedly in November, December, and on New Year's.
