Singer and actress Reneé Rapp was performing in Portland’s Moda Center on October 13, when she made a few comments about President Donald Trump and ICE.
As seen in a video from her show on X by @ImMeme0, Rapp said:
“And it just happens that we time out that we are here at the same time some other people who shouldn’t f*cking be here are. So let’s just f*cking make it abundantly f*cking clear. F*ck ICE, f*ck this administration, f*ck Trump. Let’s get that out of here very quickly. You are very gracious hosts. Thank you for having us.”
Social media users had mixed reactions to Reneé Rapp’s statement. A few users agreed with what she said, with one netizen writing:
“She’s right. There are people that shouldn’t be here and that’s why ice is there.”
Another user wrote that her parents would be proud of her, commenting:
“Whoever she is, I bet her mom and dad are so proud.”
Others seemingly backlashed at Reneé Rapp for her comments, as a netizen commented:
“You know these people are doing thier job. Are you that dull. Thanks for more divison. I'm positive you would be different if one of these illegals hurt a family member like some of the others families in America. Why don't you go straight to them and say this.”
A second user opined:
“Never heard of her, but now that I have, as she says, 'F*CK EVERYONE,' no thank you. She needs to know that politics, in and of itself, will end her career if she isn't careful.”
Reneé Rapp on working hard and being in competition with oneself
During a conversation with Zane Lowe on the Apple Music podcast in July 2025, Reneé Rapp said that her job was like a playground for others. She gets to try many activities, like attending events and doing shows. Rapp also appreciated the ones who rooted for her.
Rapp said that when she was a teenager performing on Broadway, she had to do eight shows every week. She learned how to keep going even when she didn’t feel like it. Reneé Rapp explained that in the theater, she couldn’t take a day off, even if she was sick. Sometimes, she felt terrible, but people still expected her to perform. Over time, she got used to pushing through it, whether it was a good thing or not.
When Lowe asked about the most taxing part of the industry, Rapp said:
“I think you're at constant war with yourself and you're in constant competition with you and like the best version of you or what you think that looks like. Like there's the lack of acceptance internally is a mindf*ck. You are constantly feeling like you need to be doing more, like you need to be working harder, like you are not good enough, like you are just at the mercy of everyone and everything around you.”
Reneé Rapp said she felt that she was not doing enough. She also had questions of self-doubt, like she was not fun enough. She said she became more conscious of people around her lying about something that she knew wasn’t good enough.
