The 2025 Emmy Awards were a big moment for Katherine LaNasa, and Sarah Paulson had a big role to play in it.
LaNasa earned her first nomination and later won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role in The Pitt. While the win was a milestone, LaNasa had help behind the scenes from a trusted friend.
That friend was actress Sarah Paulson. Paulson, who has been through the highs and lows of awards shows herself, stepped in to guide LaNasa through the process. Her role was not formal, but her advice and presence made a difference.
LaNasa later described Paulson as her “Emmys coach," as Paulson revealed in a recent interview with People Magazine. Paulson shared her own experience and support, which helped LaNasa stay calm during her first awards season.
Sarah Paulson helped Katherine LaNasa through the latter's first Emmy nomination

Sarah Paulson said she helped Katherine LaNasa prepare for the Emmy night in both practical and emotional ways. She explained that she gave LaNasa advice about how to deal with nerves and the busy environment. Her words were meant to keep LaNasa focused and steady. Paulson said,
"I just sort of was trying to remind her of all the things that nobody was there to tell me about, which is to try to breathe and take it all in and enjoy the moment and just try to be where your feet are."
The Ocean's 8 actress also added that Jamie Lee Curtis once gave her similar advice, saying:
“When I was going through a particularly anxious time … [Curtis] said, 'More will be revealed. Be where your feet are.' And so I said the same to Katherine.”
Paulson called her support of LaNasa “this beautiful chain of women sharing with other women the things that they've learned.”
