The decades-long beef between music executives Suge Knight and Sean "Diddy" Combs has returned to the spotlight due to Diddy’s recent criminal trial. Cassie Ventura, a singer, model, and Diddy's former partner, told a story about her interactions with Diddy that featured Suge Knight.

Cassie Ventura, who sued Sean Diddy Combs in 2023 for r*pe, abuse and assault, described a chilling incident where Combs allegedly grabbed a gun and left to confront Suge Knight.

"I was crying. I was screaming 'Please don't do anything stupid.' I was just really nervous for them, what it meant, what they were going to do," she said in the court.

She allleged that Combs, dressed in black, did not listen to her and left with a bodyguard. This statement adds another layer to the well-known conflict between Diddy and Knight that had lasted for years.

This long-standing beef, which originated in the 1990s during the East Coast West Coast hip hop war, became iconic after Suge Knight seemingly attacked Diddy at the 1995 Source Awards. While on the award stage, Knight said,

"Any artist out there that want to be an artist and stay a star, and don’t have to worry about the executive producer trying to be all in the videos, all on the record, dancing… come to Death Row!"

According to the BillBoard, while Knight didn’t name Diddy specifically, it was thought to be a direct diss at the Bad Boy Records founder, as he was known to forcefully insert himself in his artist’s videos.

More about Suge Knight and Diddy's feud

In the years since, Diddy and Knight have both addressed the infamous moment. Diddy alleged on the Drink Champs podcast that Knight informed him privately that the diss wasn’t intended for Diddy, rather it was meant for Jermaine Dupri.

Diddy was reported to have had a confrontation with Knight at the after-party after which Knight allegedly denied involving Diddy in the controversial speech.

"So when I ran up and asked him, he said, ‘Nah, I was talking about Jermaine Dupri,'" Diddy said.

Suge Knight's recent remarks about Diddy's legal battles were rather emotional. Speaking to TMZ’s special The Downfall of Diddy, Knight shared his thoughts on the accusations and expressed empathy for his family and kids.

"I thought it’d be a reaction like he got what he got coming because everybody know what’s been going on. My reaction was actually different because I felt like, damn. The first thing that came to my mind was he has his sons, he has his daughters," he said.

Sean Diddy Combs' recent legal problems started in late 2023 with the filing of a lawsuit by singer Cassie Ventura, who sued him for s*xual assault and battery. Months after, more lawsuits were filed, and 2 other people accused Combs of s*xual assault, some dating as far back as to 1991.
