The second day of Diddy's trial was held on May 13, 2025, in New York. Singer and actor,
Cassie Ventura, who is the star witness in the case and was also one of Diddy's ex-girlfriends, gave a detailed and emotional testimony of the abuse she endured in a decade-long relationship with Sean Combs, also known as Diddy.
During the trial, Cassie extensively described the alleged abuse and control she experienced in the relationship. She described how she was involved in the freak-offs and also shed light on the 2016 surveillance footage that was released by CNN, which showed Cassie being hit and shoved by Diddy.
Key highlights of Diddy's second day trial
Diddy's second day trials were centered around Cassie Ventura, Combs's then-girlfriend, now-ex-girlfriend. Cassie spoke about the alleged abuse and control Diddy had over her life. In the trial, she said that she was only 19 when she was signed by Combs' Bad Boy Records label in 2006, emphasizing that back then she was naive and a people pleaser, as per ITV News.
Describing their equation in the relationship, Cassie told the jury:
''Sean controlled a lot of my life, whether it was career, the way I dressed, everything.''
Cassie then told the jury their relationship evolved into romance during a birthday trip. She also said that she was in love with Combs and that it was her first adult relationship. She also said that she knew she wasn't Diddy's only girlfriend. The couple had kept their relationship a secret for years.
She also told the jury how Combs would abuse her frequently, and the alleged abuse would include smashing her head, kicking, and dragging. She then spoke of the freak-offs, the drug-fueled s*x parties involving paid male escorts. She said that it began when she was 22 and she had to have s*x with other men, the escorts for Diddy, and he would record it. Explaining what the freak-offs felt, she said to the jury:
''I was confused, nervous, but loved him very much and wanted him to be happy. I didn't feel like I had much of a choice. I didn't know what 'no' could mean, what 'no' could turn into. It was always in the back of my mind that I would be hurt by him. The freak-offs became a job where there was no space to do anything else."
She said that the freak-offs made her feel "worthless." The prosecutors had also asked Cassie about the 2016 hotel assault footage. She said that happened when she, Diddy, and a male escort were in a freak-off in a hotel room. Then at some point, Combs hit her, and she left the room with her things, as per the Guardian.
During the trial, Cassie also confessed to being physically abused, dragged by her hair, and forced into s*xual acts despite being sick. She also mentioned being filmed without consent, and then the recording being used to blackmail her.
Diddy's defense team has acknowledged the domestic abuse but denied the trafficking and conspiracy charges. They also assert that all the s*xual activities took place with consent.
