“Career update! Excited to announce that I have moved to Washington D.C. where I will be taking on a new role with @foxnews as a Congressional Correspondent on Capitol Hill covering the U.S. Senate & House of Representatives. Excited to join the team here & ready to get to work!”

Bill Melugin is an alumnus of Arizona State University, where he studied Broadcast Journalism while minoring in Spanish Linguistics. He worked as an intern at KNXV-TV in 2012. The next year, he joined KFOX 14 as a reporter and fill-in anchor and continued working there till 2015. Subsequently, he worked at WJZY-TV as a new anchor.

As seen in his LinkedIn profile, Bill Melugin won several accolades. He won an EMMY for Spot News in 2017. The same year, he was also awarded the National SPJ Sigma Delta Chi Award. In 2014, he won the Texas State Teachers Association School Bell Award. This award was mainly for education reporting. According to his biography on the Fox News website:

“Melugin also contributed to the continuous breaking news coverage surrounding the wildfire outbreak in California in January 2025. In May 2022, Melugin reported live from Uvalde, Texas surrounding the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School that killed 19 children and two adults. In addition, he has been reporting from the Rio Grande documenting the increased number of migrants crossing the southern border.”

What did Bill Melugin say about his promotion?

The news of Bill Melugin’s promotion was shared by Fox News President Jay Wallace, according to the press release. Wallace praised Melugin’s work, saying:

“Bill's dogged dedication to uncovering the story and deep understanding of national issues make him an excellent fit to cover the complex world of Congress.”

Bill Melugin also seemed excited about his promotion as he said:

“Congress is one of the most compelling and consequential beats in journalism and it is an incredible honor to take on this role and continue to serve our viewers from Capitol Hill.”

While covering the LA wildfires in January 2025, Bill Melugin shared a statement with The Hollywood Reporter, saying that had he been originally from Minnesota, he would have no idea how to cover the fire situation. Remembering older times, he said:

“But if you grew up in SoCal, you grew up with fire. When I was 3 years old, we had the Laguna Canyon Fire in ’93 that almost burned our house down.”

In 2022, he shared photos of two pet dogs his mother and brother adopted. In the Instagram post, Bill Melugin wrote that his mom and brother had traveled from California to the border to adopt two stray puppies they had always seen. The puppies had been sick with worms, but they were now healthy.

He visited them the day before and shared that their names were Rio and Roma, based on places in the Rio Grande Valley. He also said the puppies had grown a lot since he last saw them.
