A ruling was issued in favor of rapper Young Thug, permitting him to reclaim his seized belongings, like $150,000, expensive vehicles, and jewelry items, which were connected to the YSL RICO case.
However, according to a report by Hot97, the State of Georgia has sought legal proceedings at the Court of Appeals to overturn the ruling. As seen in a section of the court document posted by the X account, @ThuggerDaily, the legal filing mentioned:
“The State of Georgia initiated this civil suit for forfeiture of personal property from a criminal enterprise. This is an appeal of a superior court order which dismissed the complaint. Given that order, the case is no longer pending in the superior court.”
The permission to reclaim Young Thug’s belongings was granted by Judge Paige Reese Whitaker from Fulton County in August 2025. As per the Judge’s ruling, certain deadlines pertinent to the case were overlooked by the prosecutors. As a result, Young Thug must be given the right to claim his belongings. She ruled:
“I think that the court has no option under the case law and under the statute but to grant this dismissal, so the dismissal is granted.”
At the time, Fulton County’s DA, Jeff DiSantis, stated to Fox5 about the Judge’s ruling, saying:
“While we are gratified that the defendant will not be receiving gang-related jewelry back, we are perplexed that Judge Whitaker dismissed the case based on a timeline requested by defense counsel and a date the court set for trial. We are evaluating the case now for possible appeal considering that strange procedural history.”
Young Thug talks about his upbringing and memories from childhood
Earlier this month, Young Thug sat down for an interview on the PERSPEKTIVES WITH BANK podcast. At the beginning of the conversation, Big Bank asked how he was doing, to which he explained that his feelings often went up and down, but in his career, he had always wanted people’s attention.
Thug said that no matter how people looked at him, whether they were upset, disappointed, or supportive, he still wished for everyone to focus on him. He believed that even if some thought he was wrong and others thought he was right, having all eyes on him was part of the life he chose.
Speaking about his upbringing, Young Thug said:
“You got to understand my mom got 11 kids. My daddy, he couldn't sit and be in his feelings about certain things because he still got 11 people to feed, plus my mama, plus him, plus his other kids. My daddy got 15 people he got to worry about every day. So, he ain't have a chance to sit back and just focus on his feelings and feel certain things.”
Young Thug said he was raised by a man who moved forward in life. He shared that one of his earliest memories was when his brother accidentally set their whole building on fire while playing with matches near a heater in their home.
