Louis Tomlinson isn't sugarcoating his feelings about One Direction's biggest hit.
Speaking on Capital FM on Nov. 28, amidst the promotions of his album How Did I Get Here?, the singer revealed there was one song from his boy band era that he never quite enjoyed performing.
"Maybe some people wouldn't answer this, but I'm not sure there was a single time I performed One Direction's 'What Makes You Beautiful' and enjoyed it. That always felt like a bit of a challenge."

The song was released in 2010 as the debut single for the boy band One Direction. It became a worldwide hit that launched the boy band into global stardom.
During the Q&A portion on the radio station, Louis Tomlinson also revealed that the band has an unreleased song wherein all the members contributed to writing, and he confessed his desire to share it with fans.
"I think we wrote it for the last One Direction record album or the one before...I think it got leaked, actually — it was a song called 'Where We Are.' I always really, really loved that song. I was fighting for that song to make the record. It never did."
Louis Tomlinson's How Did I Get Here? is slated for release on Jan. 23, 2026. It follows 2020’s Walls and 2022’s Faith in the Future.
Louis Tomlinson reunited with One Direction bandmates at Liam Payne's funeral
Formed through the reality competition show The X Factor, One Direction members include Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson. The band went into an indefinite hiatus in January 2016 after Malik's departure a year prior.
The split, however, began after the "Dusk Till Dawn" crooner left the group, and since then, the band members have gone their separate ways to prioritize their solo careers.
Malik released his solo debut album Mind of Mine in 2016, while Styles dropped his self-titled album in 2017. Horan also unveiled his first solo album that year, Payne's LP1 debuted in 2019, and Tomlinson's Walls launched in 2020.
The members reunited during Payne's funeral rites in November 2024, following his fatal fall from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in October of that year.

At the time of his death, the four members issued a joint statement, where they expressed their grief at losing Payne.
"We're completely devastated by the news of Liam's passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly."
Like his former bandmates, Louis Tomlinson also released his own statement after Payne's tragic death.
"I am beyond devastated to be writing this but yesterday I lost a brother. Liam was somebody I looked up to everyday, such a positive, funny, and kind soul. I first met Liam when he was 16 and I was 18, I was instantly amazed by his voice but more importantly as time went on I got a chance to see the kind brother I’d longed all my life for."
The "Bigger Than Me" hitmaker continued:
"And for the record, Liam was in my opinion the most vital part of One Direction. His experience from a young age, his perfect pitch, his stage presence, his gift for writing. The list goes on. Thank you for shaping us Liam."
