Who is AJ Lee married to? WWE declares "WE CHEER FOR THERAPY" after wrestler recounts her mental health journey

Professional wrestler April Jeanette Mendez, whose ring name is AJ Lee, returned to RAW, where she challenged Irish wrestler Becky Lynch at Wrestlepalooza. Mendez, who is married to wrestler CM Punk, returned after a long hiatus, and as she walked to the ring, the crowd kept cheering for her. Introducing herself, she said she retired a decade ago. Lee added:

“I felt like I had accomplished all of my dreams in wrestling, and I was content. And I hung up my Chuck Taylors and I thought that was the end of my story. There was no way I was going to step back in a ring again wearing jean shorts that are two sizes too small. I was so sure.”

She went on:

“And so I went on a journey to accomplish all these other crazy dreams I had in life. And I did it. But most importantly, I went on a mental health journey. I wasn't healthy. I needed to take care of myself. Get right. I went to therapy. I got treatment.”

Sharing this clip on the official X page of WWE, they wrote:

“IN THIS HOUSE, WE CHEER FOR THERAPY! Incredible message from AJ Lee.”

Mendez found a way to use her mental chaos as a superpower. According to her, fighting is not easy, as every day feels like a fight. AJ Lee said the fight was worth it for anyone going through a mental health crisis. She said everyone is worth the fight it takes to get through the struggles.

What did Becky Lynch say to AJ Lee?

She said she had been doing well for a while, but things got harder after she watched Monday Night Raw. AJ Lee explained that healing didn’t always move in a straight line. Watching her husband face wrestlers like Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, or John Cena was one thing, but seeing him in the ring with Becky Lynch felt very different.

She wanted to like Becky since they had much in common, as both were leaders, rebels, and even bestselling authors. Speaking about Becky Lynch, she said:

“There is a world in which me and Becky could have been friends. But then she had to go and motorboat my husband. She put her hands on him. She berated him, she defamed him.”

At this point, Becky Lynch entered and said:

“This has nothing to do with your stank a** husband.”

Criticising the audience, she pointed out that AJ Lee was wearing her title. Becky said it was her title, which she made the most important one in the division. Pointing fingers at Lee, she said they had nothing in common. She went on:

“I am the greatest female wrestler of all time. You can boo me all you like. It's not just me saying it. Other people say it. Sports Illustrated says it.”

As the crowd kept calling her a loser, Becky said she would need to go to therapy after that. However, she said AJ Lee had no right to put a finger on her title.
