Nathan Fielder has been speculated to be dating fellow comedy director Amber Schaefer. Fielder, who is responsible for Nathan for You and HBO’s The Rehearsal, has for the most part kept his romantic life private. But fans were quick to turn heads when he was seen with comedy director Amber Schaefer at the 2022 GQ Men of the Year party.

Although the duo has never confirmed the relationship in public, rumors have persisted ever since with their professional overlap in the world of comedy.

Amber Schaefer is a seasoned writer and director from some of comedy’s best platforms. She has directed pre-taped segments for Saturday Night Live and also for Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Netflix Digital, CollegeHumor, and Funny or Die (IMDB).

Among her best-known works is her direction of the Bernie Sanders campaign parody, The People’s Perfume, a comedic commercial that gained traction during Sanders’ 2020 race for president. She’s also responsible for other well-known comedy shorts like NYC Tips and Tricks and It’s Been Too Long.

Thanks to unconventional parenting, Schaefer’s first creative influence came from her childhood. In an interview with Working Not Working in 2019, she talked about being raised by “lifestyle nonconformist” parents in a “weird house.”

"This dynamic is probably what forced my hand into comedy. The comedian’s job is to unveil invisible hegemonic systems. But to me, many of these systems were not hidden because I was otherized at a young age," she said.

After a few years of refining her work in New York City, she now resides in Los Angeles. As per her online bio, she lives with two cats, a Pomeranian named Michael, and an adult man whose name is not mentioned.

Nathan Fielder is the former husband of Canadian children's librarian Sarah Ziolkowska. According to Naija News, the couple were introduced at a comedy show and got married in 2011. But their marriage fell apart while Nathan for You Season 2 was being shot, and they got divorced in 2015.

After many years of being silent about his personal life, Fielder disclosed in a New York Magazine interview from 2022 that he was living with a partner and feeling “very happy.” He kept her name under wraps.
