Dexter White, who was born Dexter Keaton on December 15, 1995, is the adopted daughter of the late actress Diane Keaton. She is the first child out of the two children, Keaton adopted and raised as a single mother. Dexter, at the age of 29, has kept a low-profile life, unlike her renowned mother, who was mostly in the limelight.
After the death of the mother, Diane Keaton, at age 79, on October 11, 2025, White posted a message in her memory. She honored her through an Instagram Story, which featured one of the interests that Keaton had: animal welfare. Her post prompted people to get involved in Race for the Rescues, an animal charity, which her mother had been donating to over the years.
The act was an indication of the relationship that Dexter had with her mother. Keaton has expressed her love and adoration for her children. In May 2014, Dexter had also referred to her mother as strong, beautiful, and talented.
Dexter White’s early life and family background
Dexter White was adopted by Diane Keaton in the mid-1990s, after Keaton had already celebrated some success in Hollywood and decided to focus on being a mom. She originally adopted Dexter and later, her son, Duke Keaton. They both grew up in Los Angeles, while Keaton worked on her acting career and managed her family life.
Dexter was raised in a close-knit and private home, where she often attended public events with her mother, avoiding the spotlight. Keaton preferred to keep her children's lives out of the limelight.
In June 2021, Dexter Keaton married Jordan White in a small wedding with close family and friends attending. She referred to herself as Dexter Keaton White. According to a report by PEOPLE, Diane Keaton had helped her daughter pick out the "perfect wedding gown," suggesting the closeness between the two.

Honoring Diane Keaton after her passing
Following the death of Diane Keaton in October 2025, Dexter utilized her mother's platform to pay tribute to her legacy. She shared several posts about animal rescue, noting a specific organization, called Race for the Rescues, with a request to donate on behalf of her mother. Race for the Rescues is a nonprofit that both offers medical care to animals in need and provides services for pet adoption.
The gesture was important and relevant for Dexter White because it was directly linked to Keaton’s long-time advocacy for animal protection. Keaton had been involved with a number of animal charities throughout her life, but was remembered to have a particular love and support for animals.
After her passing, it was reported that Keaton left $5 million in her will to cover Reggie’s estimated life costs and also support a variety of organizations dedicated to animal welfare. Like many of the posts Dexter had shared in the past, Dexter’s post was a small, personal expression of loss and love.
