Their affair began soon and continued as they worked together on several films, including Sleeper, Love and Death, and the Oscar-winning Annie Hall. They had broken up in the early 1970s, but they remained close friends and continued to cooperate for a long time.

Keaton started dating actor Al Pacino in the mid-1970s. The two had met during the filming of The Godfather trilogy and spent almost twenty years together on and off.

Keaton once told People that Pacino was one of the great loves of her life, but they were too different to last.

Keaton and Pacino did not fall out of favor with each other even after the breakup. During interviews, they would speak respectfully about each other. People reported that Pacino considered Keaton a special person.

Diane Keaton dated Warren Beatty, who was an actor and filmmaker in the late 1970s. They had a chance to get acquainted in the 1981 film Reds, as Beatty directed and acted alongside her.

Individuals also observed that their relationship had lasted a few years and had been characterized by respect and good professional working relationships. Beatty had once described Keaton as an exceptional actress who made Reds one of his most valued projects.

They broke up in the mid-1980s, yet the two remained on friendly terms. Keaton later revealed to Us Weekly that her relationship with Beatty was not a waste, although she knew that she did not want to get married. She claimed that she appreciated her freedom and was willing to live her life the way she wanted.

Keaton became a mother to two kids, Dexter and Duke, in her 50s and started concentrating on raising them.

In an interview with People, she stated that becoming a single parent gave her a sense of calmness and direction. She even referred to her children as the true love of her life, proving that family was more important to her fulfillment than marriage.
