On December 21, 2006, Sean Diddy Combs and the late Kim Porter welcomed their twin daughters, D'Lila Combs and Jessie Combs, in New York City.
They were only 11 years old when they lost their mother, a tragic loss that affected them deeply. At the age of 47, Kim passed away on November 15, 2018, due to lobar pneumonia. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office confirmed her death, stating she lost her life at her home in Toluca Lake, California.
On Mother's Day, celebrated on May 11, 2025, Diddy's twin teenagers paid tribute to their late mother on Instagram, sharing a heartfelt emotional message.
Dedicated to "Dear mommy," Jessie and D’Lila wrote for Kim Porter,
"You were the best mommy anyone could’ve ever had and we are so blessed that god chose you to be our mommy. We miss you so very much every single day and we wish you could be here with us today."
Kim's unfortunate passing away has been a challenging lesson for her daughters. Reflecting on that, they further wrote in their special tribute,
"These last couple years have been sooooo extremely difficult without you by our side. We really wish you were here for these years that we begin to grow and start to mature into young ladies."
The twins are cheerleaders and aspiring models. They run a joint Instagram account with over 756K followers.
Kim's unexpected demise taught Diddy a significant life lesson. In a 2019 conversation with Essence, the hip-hop mogul opened up on how the heartwrenching incident taught him to choose family over other aspects of life.
He shared,
"Before this, I was a part-time father, you know? My family was always first, but there are countless times when I chose work over everything else. But every day I can hear her telling me to go and spend some time with the kids and make sure everybody's all right, like she would do."
Expressing how much he loves his kids more than anything else, he further added,
"I'm just a lot more present, and, most important, now my kids come before anything else in my life."
Everything we know about Diddy's twin daughters, D'Lila Combs and Jessie Combs

Diddy and Kim welcomed the twins in 2006, and the rapper's rep confirmed the wonderful news with People. The statement dedicated to Justin and D'Lila read,
"Diddy received an early Christmas gift! It gives us great joy to announce the arrival of Diddy’s twin girls. The beautiful, healthy baby girls were born this morning with Diddy by mother Kim Porter’s side."
Sharing information about their birth and health updates, the rep further continued,
"The first arrived at 7:56 a.m. weighing 5 lbs., followed 2 minutes later by the second at 5 lbs., 4 oz. Diddy had a plane on standby in Toronto where he is filming Raisin in the Sun and made it just in the nick of time for the delivery. Both Kim and the girls are doing great."
D'Lila Combs and Jessie Combs are a part of the famous Combs family. According to a Page Six report, Sean Diddy Combs is also a father to the twins' five half-siblings. The hip hop star had Quincy Brown, Justin Combs, Christian "King" Combs, Chance Combs, and Love Combs.
Diddy and Kim chose to name their daughters after their grandmothers. He released a YouTube video 18 years ago, revealing the reason behind his daughters' beautiful names.
Expressing his and Kim's love for their grandmothers, he shared candidly,
"There’s two very important people that have influenced me and Kim’s life, and that’s our grandmothers. And probably like y’all out there, you know your grandmother, you have special memories of your grandmother."
Later, he also explained,
"My grandmother’s not here right now, so she’s very, very special to me. My grandmother’s name was Jessie Smalls and her [Porter] grandmother’s name is Lila Star."
D’Lila and Jessie are attending Sierra Canyon School in Los Angeles, according to a People Magazine report. They are associated with the cheerleading squad. They spoke about their cheerleading experience in a 2022 interview with Rolling Out.
Jessie shared,
"We had no experience before. I just wanted to try it because it was fun. Before this year, when I was in middle school here at Sierra, I saw the other cheerleaders cheering and it looked so much fun, I wanted to try it."
D'Lila joined her sister and chimed in,
"We have so much fun doing it."

Jessie and D'Lila are continuing their mom’s legacy in modeling. Since a young age, they have been dreaming of becoming successful models. They had an incredible opportunity to work with Dolce & Gabbana in August 2021. They walked the runway with their half-sister, Chance, in Venice.
In May 2023, the aspiring teen models posed for V Magazine's cover with Chance. In a conversation with the outlet, D'Lila remembered her mother and stated,
"It was very inspiring, watching her [Porter] try on the clothes and take pictures. We always would watch her and know that that’s what we wanted to do."
D'Lila, Jessie, and Chance also joined their father, Diddy, to pose for Vanity Fair and Essence's covers. Also, they walked for the Liberty & Justice runway show in 2023.
