Glynn Turman, 78, has recently been honored with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star. On July 10, 2025, he received the 2,816th star at 7065 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles.

Amid news of this incredible achievement, his fans are keen to take a look at his personal life and know his family better than ever.

The veteran actor is married to Jo-An Turman. Professionally, she is the Vice President of Entertainment Industry Partnerships, according to her LinkedIn.

Jo-An was born in New York. She relocated to Los Angeles with her family and grew up in California. While she hails from New York, she has Jamaican heritage, the Caribbean Heritage Organization reported.

From 1977 to 1982, she attended California State University in Los Angeles and earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Marketing, Urban Education, and Real Estate.

As mentioned on her LinkedIn bio, she is the:

"Vice President of Entertainment Industry Partnerships & Real Estate Broker at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles."

In August 2007, Jo-An joined Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles as the Director of Entertainment Industry Partnerships. Later, in June 2018, she started serving as its Vice President of Entertainment Industry Partnerships and a licensed real estate broker. She has been practicing as a real estate broker for 30 years now.

According to a Caribbean Heritage Organization report, Jo‑Ann Turman co-founded the IX Winds Ranch Foundation with Glynn Turman in 1992.

Their nonprofit supports inner-city youth and at-risk young people with free Western-style summer camps, scholarships, mentorship, and job placements. These noble causes are conducted at the family's ranch, spread over 20 acres.

Additionally, she remained an integral board member of organizations such as the American Camp Association.

A look at Glynn Turman and Jo-An Turman's romance

On February 14, 1992, Glynn Turman got married, for the third time, to Jo‑Ann Turman. They dated for around a decade before tying the knot and taking this significant step in their life.

Around five years before celebrating their nuptials, the couple welcomed their only child. They had their daughter, Delena Joy Turman, in October 1987. Their relationship blossomed from a loving courtship to parenthood, and eventually, they got married.

In a 2018 conversation with Oprah, Glynn disclosed the decisions he had made for his love life. Though he never wished to get wed again, after two failed marriages, he proposed to the love of his life and exchanged vows after 10 years of their relationship.

Glynn Turman is a proud father to four kids: Glynn Turman Jr., Delena Joy Turman, Darryl Turman, and Stephanie Turman. His eldest son, Glynn Turman Jr., was tragically killed in 1986 at age 21.

Glynn married Ula M. Walker in 1965 and were together till 1971, according to The Famous People. The former couple welcomed three children, Glynn Turman Jr., Stephanie Turman, and Darryl Turman.

A UPI report confirmed Turman Jr.'s demise in a stabbing incident close to the Santa Monica Pier. Along with him, his friend was also stabbed and sustained injuries following the dispute.

Detective Ray Cooper opened up about the actor's son's death, stating that he was attacked and stabbed multiple times during a confrontation with some young people at the Lobster Restaurant's parking area.

The Detective further discussed the fist fight at the parking lot, sharing insights taken from onlookers. According to their statements, Glynn Turman Jr. reportedly made offensive remarks toward a girl. She was allegedly accompanying Henry Montgomery and several minors, and his action triggered the deadly altercation.

Explaining the incident, Ray added,

"He apparently had made a pass and the pass was shunned."

UPI also reported the detective noting,

"The suspect did not use fists; he used a knife and stabbed him many times."

Their argument escalated to a huge fight, leading to Turman Jr. getting stabbed and hospitalized at Santa Monica Hospital. Later, at around 8:15 pm, he passed away at the hospital.

Turman's injured friend received treatment for his severe injuries and was later discharged from the hospital.

The authorities investigated the serious case, found, and arrested Henry Montgomery, who was involved in the clash.

The legendary actor had a daughter, Delena Joy Turman, with Jo-An on October 14, 1987.
