Ned Wolfgang Kelly is a part of the music industry

Ned is a skilled, creative individual, donning the professional title of a director, writer, as well as a musician.

His website showcases his impressive portfolio, including TV commercials for popular brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Bud Light, Samsung, Mentos, and Headspace, People reported.

Ned Wolfgang Kelly also joined hands with Mentos a few years ago for a commercial audio. He shared the 2022 ad on Instagram, talking about composing and producing warped Italo disco music for the brand.

He explained in the caption,

"Trying to get better at sharing commercial work on here, because that’s how I get hired 🎶 Composed and produced some warped Italo disco music for the latest Mentos ad. If you like chewing gum, off-key synthesisers or analog drum machines, then this underwhelming 20 second audio experience goes out to you"

Beyond his musical expertise, Ned Wolfgang Kelly also wrote for several cultural magazines. According to a Mandatory report, he has worked for Dazed article, covering California’s queer hip-hop scene. He primarily wrote on Tim’m T West’s HIV.

Sharing a snippet of the well-written piece on Instagram, he discussed in the caption,

"About a year and a half ago I had a series of fascinating conversations with the amazing Tim’m T West - poet, rapper, educator and LGBTQ+ activist. Our aim was to cement the history of the Queer hip hop scene in the late 90s / early 00s, as it never got the recognition it deserved. Tim’m’s own story was central to the movement, and he still works tirelessly as an activist, as do many of the rappers he collaborated and worked with."

He further penned,

"Predictably, the magazine I initially wrote the piece for stalled again and again over publishing it. Somehow the story of these artists seemed destined to be overlooked, in spite of the gradual growth of a visibly Queer rap scene in recent years."

In 2022, Kelly celebrated a huge milestone on social media

He appears to be a strong voice for sobriety and uses his platform, hoping to influence others. His Instagram bio reads,

"Alcohol & drug free for over a decade"

In November 2022, he achieved something significant in his life. That month, he spent 12 years of sobriety.

To celebrate this incredible achievement, Ned Wolfgang Kelly opened up on his journey of "12 years with no alcohol, drugs or intoxicants."

He wrote,

"Can’t imagine life any other way, thankfully. Which is crazy because 12 years ago I couldn’t imagine living life sober."

The artist also shared,

"Alcohol and drugs are a strange and intriguing gift of nature. But they can cause misery, destruction and eventual death for those of us who can’t control our relationship with them (and contrary to popular belief, that can be anybody, from daily round the clock users, to people who have random bouts of chaotic binge drinking - there’s no strict ‘definition’ of an addict or alcoholic). Ultimately, it’s all down to how your substance use makes YOU feel. And only you can decide when you’ve had enough."

He also reflected on finding "a solution to the misery." He revealed finding it in,

"12 step meetings, creativity, physical exercise, and most notably; keeping good people around me and reaching out to others"

Every year, he opens up about his key breakthroughs. He celebrates these little moments because,

"It's also an opportunity to spread an important message which was passed on to me when I first started my recovery journey; if the inside of your head doesn’t feel like a safe place, just hold tight and seek help, because there are ways to live differently."

Ned Wolfgang Kelly also chimed in with his close-to-heart note,

"To put it very simply, for all the mornings when I used to wake up with feelings that ran a gloomy spectrum of intense regret, physical injury, total amnesia, suicidal ideation, and all the familiar in-betweens which make an alcoholic think 'why, why why can I not control my intake, I wish I hadn’t….'"

He concluded, admitting that he has

"never once woken up and thought 'I wish I’d got drunk last night'" in these last 12 years.
