Later in November 2024, the football team's practice squad released him, and he has remained a free agent since, currently not signed to any NFL team.

Now, Funk is back in the headlines for the wonderful news as he and Sluss count down the days until November to welcome their first baby.

In an exclusive conversation with People, the Bachelor alum shared,

"We found out we were expecting during a trip to Dubai."

The couple did not reveal their pregnancy news right after finding out in Dubai. Instead, they took their time and waited for a few weeks before sharing the special moment with their loved ones.

While speaking with People, Hannah added,

"We waited until I was around 12 weeks, once I started feeling a bit better. We shared the news at a family party, and it was the best surprise! Everyone was so excited and incredibly supportive."

Both Funk and Sluss have been cautious and protective about their child since the beginning. Sharing a glimpse of their preparations ahead of the little one's arrival, the soon-to-be mother elaborated,

"As first-time parents, we've been doing our homework and being super intentional about everything that will go in and on our little one. With our baby arriving in November, right when cough, cold and flu season kicks into high gear, it was important for us to be prepared."

Right now, the couple's priority is to find "gentle, safe and effective solutions" that they can truly trust.

Recounting how she dealt with her first trimester, Hannah Ann Sluss further continued,

"The first trimester was all about rest and sticking to the basics – work, walks and taking care of Dash. I had a lot of food aversions, and almost everything tasted off except fruit (which I've always loved!)."

She also opened up about deciding names for the baby, noting,

"We've started talking names and love the idea of choosing one that's meaningful and tied to family in some way."

During the chit-chat, she also expressed her gratitude, conveying,

"So thankful. Becoming parents is the greatest gift, and we're just in awe of God's goodness in this season."

Born on January 11, 1998, Jake Funk grew up in Damascus, Maryland. According to a People report, he played for the Damascus High School football team. In 2015, he won the Maryland Gatorade Player of the Year and Washington Post All-Metro Offensive Player of the Year recognitions.

In 2021, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams for the seventh round of that year's NFL Draft. He played 10 games in 2021, followed by 5 in 2022.

In October 2022, he joined the New Orleans Saints practice squad. The team released him in early November during the same year.
