Jessica Henriquez and Josh Lucas got married in March 2012. The couple had previously met while walking their dogs at a dog park in 2011, and, just a few weeks later, they announced their engagement. According to People Magazine, Josh Lucas and Jessica Henriquez, who has written for The New York Times, welcomed their first and only child, a son, in the same year.

In January 2014, after almost two years of marriage, the couple announced that their separation, after Henriquez filed for divorce. Their divorce was finalized in October 2014, however they continued to maintain a cordial bond as they coparented their son.

In a March 2018 article on TIME Magazine, Henriquez talked about the difficulties of coparenting with Josh Lucas, and said:

"We tried really hard to be the world’s friendliest exes and in photos it was believable, but in reality we were actually two people desperately clinging onto the fantasy of what we thought our family could look like."
"It would take years to face the facts of separating. No matter how much my ex-husband and I love each other, how much we’ve forgiven one another and how much we’re willing to work together, divorce means we set fire to the fantasy.”

In 2016, a source close to the couple had revealed to People Magazine that they former couple were trying to work on their relationship and get back together. Later in 2020, six years after their divorce, Jessica Henriquez posted a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), accusing the "American Psycho" actor of cheating, and writing, "Exes are exes for a reason."

In the now-deleted post, Henriquez claimed that Lucas had allegedly cheated on her during the pandemic, suggesting that they were trying to rekindle their relationship since their divorce. As reported by Today.com, in a 2020 post, she wrote:

"Having a child with someone makes you want to forgive them more than you normally would, it makes you believe they are better than they are. But it takes a really shit human to cheat on their partner (correction: now ex partner) in the middle of a pandemic. Thank you for reminding me why I left you in the first place."

She further added:

"I deserve better than this. Our son deserves better than this. And yes, I am airing this publicly because there are a lot of women accepting much less than they deserve because there are kids in the picture. You’re not stupid for hoping, for believing that people can change. I see you."

According to Page Six, in 2021, a source close to Jessica Henriquez said that she was now moving forward with her own life and was not concerning herself with Josh Lucas' new relationship. They said:

"Jess is unfazed by the revolving door of women in Josh’s life, including the new girlfriend. Her focus has always been on raising their son, Noah, and giving him love and stability.”

Josh Lucas never responded to the allegations levied by Jessica Henriquez, who in 2021 was briefly rumoured to be with actor Armie Hammer, after his divorce from ex-wife, Elizabeth Chambers.
